This is the production company of ITV Border, formerly Border Productions.
1st Logo (1961-September 1, 1971)
Visuals: Same as the 1961 ident.
Variant: Sometimes, the text says "A Border Television Network Production" below the logo.
Technique: A still, hand-drawn graphic.
Audio: None or the ending theme of the programme.
Availability: Seen on programmes by Border from the time-period until 1971. [Examples?]
2nd Logo (September 1, 1971-September 1, 1989)
Visuals: Same as the 1970 ident. Usually, a copyright notice is added underneath.
Variants:
- A network production variant exists.
- On A Tale of Two Dales, the NRK logo appears below the Border Television logo.
- On The Living Wall, a co-production variant with Tyne Tees Television exists. The Border Television logo is also gold.
- On Highway, the logo is paired with six other ITV franchise logos on a blue background. Border's logo appears on the bottom right.
Technique: A printed card.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Seen on programmes by Border from the time-period until 1989.
- Border Television has a low output of original programming which are hard to find outside of original TV airings.
- Examples include Groovy Fellers, A Tale of Two Dales, Mr & Mrs, and later episodes of Get Fresh.
- However, early episodes of the latter used the 1970 HTV logo.
- The opening variant of this logo was used on all networked programmes by Border until ITV abolished frontcaps starting on January 1, 1988.
3rd Logo (September 1, 1989-September 1994)
Visuals: On a blue background, the 1989 bowl symbol is displayed over the text "A BORDER PRODUCTION" and a copyright notice on the bottom.
Variants:
- The 1989 ITV logo also appears below the Border text on some networked programmes.
- Sometimes, a copyright notice reading "© Border Television plc (year in Roman numerals)" appears either below the Border text or the 1989 ITV logo.
- On Scottish Eye, the logo appears on a white background and is paired with the Red Herring Productions logo. The text is also reworded to "A Red Herring & Border Television Production for Channel Four" with the copyright notice appearing below.
Technique: A still CGI render.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Seen on programmes by Border from the time-period until 1994.
- Examples include That's History, among others.
- The standard logo's appearance is unknown, but the variant can be found on Scottish Eye.
4th Logo (September 1994-November 7, 1999)
Visuals: This is a still version of the 1995 variant of the 1994 ident with the text reading "A BORDER PRODUCTION", "A BORDER PRESENTATION", or "A BORDER PROGRAMME".
Variants:
- In its early days, the logo is on a rocky background.
- The 1989 ITV logo is also shown below the Border text on networked programmes. This lasted until October 4, 1998.
Technique: A still CGI render.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Seen on programmes by Border from the time-period until 1999.
- Examples include Inside Sellafield and other original programmes from this period.
5th Logo (November 8, 1999-2001)
Visuals: This is a still version of the 1999 ident, but except, the yellow text is added, reading "A" and "PRODUCTION" below the logo, respectively.
Variant: When ITV was changed to ITV1 in 2001, the text now appears below directly reading "A BORDER PRODUCTION".
Technique: A still CGI render.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Seen on most Border programmes of the time, like Lookaround.
6th Logo (2001-October 31, 2004)
Visuals: The same Granada purple end card with the corporate logo used by all other Granada-owned regions is shown, however, the shadow copies are of the Border "Chopsticks in a Bowl" symbol, and the square has the white Border "Chopsticks in a Bowl" logo inside with the text reads "A Border Television Production".
Technique: A still CGI render.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.
