Background
Mediaset S.p.A. is an Italian media company and the largest broadcaster in the region. Originally formed as Silvio Berlusconi Communications, it derived from TeleMilano Group founded in 1978 by former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and 38.6% of the group is still controlled by his family. The current name was introduced in 1994 and the company was set as a separate entity the following year. Mediaset held majority shares in the Netherlands-based Endemol, and it also owns Italian film producer Medusa. In 2019, the company reconsolidated its Italian assets under the Mediaset Italia name as part of a then-planned restructuring of the group. In 2021, the company was reincorporated in the Netherlands and restructured as MFE - MediaForEurope while Mediaset Italia was simply renamed to Mediaset.

1st Ident (1995-1997)
Visuals: On a black background, 2 golden bars of light slide in and wipe in the golden text "M E D I A S E T", which is spaced out to match the underline's length. After it wipes in, the emblem from the Fininvest logo fades in and the cog shines.
Variants:
- Sometimes, the word "presenta" in a yellow Times New Roman font fades in below.
- There's also a filmed version with darker colors and "presenta" in a white Garamond font.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Same as the Silvio Berlusconi Communications logo, but at a slightly lower pitch.
Availability: This was used mainly as a logo for television shows. It can be seen on early reprints of the Fantaghirò series, plastering the Silvio Berlusconi Communications logo. It was also seen on other productions like Il Deserto di Fuoco.
2nd Ident (1996-2000)
Visuals:
- Version 1: There is a spark drawing in a line which morphs into a blue oval with the text "UNA PRODUZIONE" in italics. Meanwhile, the Mediaset logomark flies out in 3D, along with a gray "MEDIASET" below, before 3 sparks appear from the bottom and create the logos of the three Mediaset-operated channels (Canale 5, Italia Uno, and Retequattro). A gray arc joins the channel logos together.
- Version 2: The gray and blue emblem moves to the upper center while the name zooms out and pans under it. As the logo formed, the three sparks come up and form the channel logos, while everything slightly zooms out to make room for a blue oval banner with "PRESENTA" that flips in below.
Variants:
- Some prints have the "UNA PRODUZIONE" version of the logo with its 2nd half sped up a little.
- On a few TV movies like Il quarto re the long version plays, but "PRESENTA" is omitted and the logo doesn't zoom out.
Technique: CGI.
Audio:
- The synth theme previously used in the 1994 RTI logo, composed by Franz di Cioccio and Patrick Djivas.
- The version with "PRESENTA" has the jingle slightly modified and sped up, before a synthesized splash and a swoosh plays, all composed by Franz di Cioccio and Patrick Djivas.
Availability: Unknown. [Examples?]
3rd Ident (2000-2005)
Visuals: Over a blue spotlight background, the blue "UNA PRODUZIONE" oval banner and the RTI and Mediaset logos fly out and settle on the center. The channel logos from the previous logo (with the Retequattro logo being replaced by its successor) then slide in from below, rotate to face the screen, and glow upon settling, while the arc is drawn in between them. Basically a rework of the previous logo with improved CGI.
Variants:
- An extended variant without the "UNA PRODUZIONE" banner exists since 2003. The background at the beginning has been changed into a transparent object with blue lights orbiting throughout a space background, and the whole logo glows in blue before the background changes into the generic spotlight one.
- A "PRESENTA" variant like that of the previous logo also exists, with the accompanying music.
Technique: CGI.
Audio:
- The RTI jingle in most cases, like before, composed by Franz di Cioccio and Patrick Djivas.
- For the extended variant, you can hear an ascending orchestral fanfare composed by Chicco Santulli.
Availability: Unknown. [Examples?]
4th Ident (2005-2018)
Visuals: There is a line of light moving down to reveal a complicated background full of glowing lights and lines. The Mediaset logo forms in the middle, being white with the cog wheel in blue. Meantime, three transparent watermarks of the Canale 5, Italia Uno and Retequattro logos float at the background.
Variants:
- For TV fictions, the logo was reworked to a more abstract one, with filmstrips floating below.
- A more recent variant had both backgrounds superimposed.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Same as the previous logo, composed by Franz di Cioccio and Patrick Djivas, but a bit muffled and slowed out.
Audio variant: The filmstrip variant had a rearranged version of the jingle with more cinematic-sounding instruments and note adjustments which, like in the previous logo, is composed by Franz di Cioccio and Patrick Djivas.
Availability:
- It was used as a channel banner and seen on several TV movies and shows. Currently, it can be seen once in a while.
- The superimposed backgrounds variant was first seen on the movie E se domani... released in 2005; and since 2012, it was used as a intro for fictions. It also plasters the filmstrips variant on current prints of older programs.
5th Ident (2011-2018)
Visuals: Same as the previous logo, but the background and graphics are updated, and the logos of the main channels (Canale 5, Italia Uno, Retequattro) and the following other network's logos flash in under the Mediaset ident:
- 2011: La5, Boing, Iris, Mediaset Extra and Italia 2.
- 2011-2013: TGCom24, La5, Boing, Iris, Extra, Italia 2 and Cartoonito.
- 2013-2018: TGCom24, La5, Boing, Iris, Extra, Italia 2, TopCrime and Cartoonito along with the slogan "La tua tv. Sempre più grande."
Variant: On shows that were filmed in fullscreen, the ident was reanimated and the slogan was moved to the top.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Same as the previous logo.
Availability: Unknown. [Examples?]
6th Ident (April 3, 2018-)
Visuals: On a naval blue background, a white line can be seen drawing the Mediaset logo and symbol. After it forms, the logo turns white while the logos of the main channel (Canale 5, Italia Uno, Retequattro) and the following other network's logos flash in under the Mediaset ident:
- April 3-May 14, 2018: 20, Iris, La5, Mediaset Extra, Italia 2, TopCrime, Boing, Cartoonito and TGCom24 along with the slogan "La tua tv. Sempre più grande."
- May 15, 2018-January 19, 2020: 20, Iris, La5, Mediaset Extra, Focus, TopCrime, Boing, Cartoonito, TGCom24 and Italia 2
- January 20, 2020-January 16, 2022: 20, Iris, La5, Cine34, Focus, TopCrime, Boing, Cartoonito, TGCom24, Mediaset Extra and Italia 2.
- January 17, 2022: 20, Iris, Twentyseven, La5, Cine34, Focus, TopCrime, Boing, Cartoonito, Italia 2, TGCom24 and Mediaset Extra.
Variants:
- On programs produced in fullscreen, the ident was reanimated and the slogan and logos were shrunk to fit the aspect ratio.
- On TV shows produced and distributed by the company, the logos for the channels are absent.
- Following the rebrands of Canale 5 and Retequattro in 2018, as well as Cartoonito's rebrand in 2022 to coincide with its then-ongoing global relaunch respectively, all three logos were changed accordingly during those respective years.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: The 1994 RTI jingle.
Audio variant: On certain television shows, the grander version of the RTI jingle from the 4th logo is used.
