Background
Yekaterinburg Art Home Video (also known as EA, EAHV and EA Cinema) was a Russian video distribution company based in Yekaterinburg, founded in 1991 by Evgeny Miropolsky. Originally, the main activity of the company was theatrical distribution until they became a home video distributor in 1994. The company has also owned a chain of retail stores that operated under the "Titanic Video Records" brand and two "Titanic Cinema" movie theaters. The company had an extensive catalog of video products, and it was considered to be one of the oldest and leading video distribution companies in Russia. In 2008, the company's founder (Evgeny Miropolsky) was accused of kidnapping his partner Andrei Aivazov, and he was sentenced to 10 years in a maximum security penal colony. On November 6, 2008, the company was liquidated.
1st Logo (1994-2003)
![](http://static.wikiforge.net/avidwiki/4/4b/Yekaterinburg_Art_Home_Video_%281994%29.png)
Visuals: On a black starry background, two yellow texts "ЕКАТЕРИНБУРГ АРТ" and "HOME VIDEO", both in an arc fashion, slowly flip in from both sides after a while above and below respectively, as a green ball of light zooms in at the center. Then the texts shine and the light dies out to reveal the green letters "EA" zooming in.
Technique: CGI animation.
Audio: A calm synth theme ending with a powerful hit.
Availability:
- Seen on Russian videotapes from various kinds of films, mostly famous/Hollywood ones. [Examples?]
- At least a few VHS releases of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series are known to have this.
- Also appeared on a few DVDs. [Examples?]
2nd Logo (2003-2006)
![](/w/thumb.php?f=EA_Cinema_%282006%29.png&width=300)
Visuals: On a black background with a slowly rotating starfield, a green galaxy forms in the middle of the screen and then shrinks down. Then the letters "EA", in the same style as before, but with a trademark symbol "TM" next to them at the top-right, appear flipping down to the front as a wide aquamarine beaming oval (representing a burst) appears and fades out. After the disappearance of the galaxy leaving a green light behind the letters, a sparkle goes over the letters from the top. As it goes down to bottom off-screen, two copies of the same beaming oval, albeit much brighter, appear causing the word "CINEMA", in a downward arc fashion, to zoom in below the letters "EA". Then another sparkle goes across the word from left to right.
Variant: On various promos, the logo starts with the word "CINEMA" zooming in.
Technique: CGI animation.
Audio: Same as the first logo.
Availability: Seen on EA's releases of the time, including most of their DVDs released in the 2000s. [Examples?]
