Omni Video
Omni Video was the very first home video company in Brazil, starting as a video rental service in 1977 under the name Disk Video - and then changing the name to Omni Video in the 80s. Much like other pioneering video rental stores in the country, their catalogue consisted of imported home video releases - the so called "alternative tapes". In 1982, with the beginning of a regulated home video market in Brazil (spearheaded by VCL South America and Embrafilme), Omni Video started their own home video distribution label[1]

1st Logo (1982-1987)
![](/w/thumb.php?f=Omni_Video_%281982%29.png&width=300)
Visuals: On a zooming-out starfield with a grid zooming in below, a white laser beam shoots to the upper-left portion, forming a light. A black rounded rectangle with a white outline flashes in, and a white rounded rectangle along with an upside-down rectangle, all leaving a trail, fade in. The shapes fade into white, as a trail behind them shines rainbow colors and the white text "OMNI VIDEO" fades in below.
Technique: Traditional animation.
Audio: A droning synth note accompanied by a ding and a few laser zaps. It is followed by a mellow synth note and a descending synth note, ending with a 4-note synth theme.
Availability: Seen on VHS releases from the company, such as Tem Piranha no Aquário.
2nd Logo (1987-1989)
![](/w/thumb.php?f=Omni_Video_%281981%29.png&width=300)
Visuals: On a blue gradient background, a pink segmented biconvex rectangle slides in from above, as well as an upside-down segmented triangle sliding from below, all facing the upper-right portion. The word "OMNI" flips in, and the word "VIDEO" slides in from the right.
Technique: Computer animation.
Audio: A set of ascending futuristic synth notes, followed by 2 descending synth strings. An upbeat fanfare is heard afterwards.
Availability: Seen on adult and home VHS releases from the company, such as O Sexo Nosso de Cada Dia and L'uomo, l'orgoglio, la vendetta.
3rd Logo (1989)
![](/w/thumb.php?f=Omnivideo.png&width=341)
Visuals: On a space background, a 3D videotape appears. The back of tape opens and spews a silver plate, which then morphs into a parallelepiped shape and then divides into multiple equallly-sized plates, stacked onto each other. Part of the shape splits a forms a upside-down prism; both shapes forming the letters O and V. After both shapes freeze in a angular position, the words OMNI VIDEO fade underneath, followed by APRESENTA.
Technique: 3D computer animation
Audio: Some kind of new-age synth tune.
Availability: Seen on later Omni Video releases, such as "A B... Profunda", "Deadly Breed" and "Contamination (1980)".
