Background

Fabulous Films is a British home entertainment company founded in the mid 1990s. Similar to Shout! Factory in the US, the company distributes classic films and TV shows as high-end rereleases. They didn't have a logo until 2007. Their releases are distributed through Fremantle Home Entertainment.

Logo (2007-)

Visuals: The screen cuts to a shot of a cracked concrete wall, covered with various torn and faded mock movie posters, as the camera pans and rotates around so that the wall starts to face the screen. In the center of the wall, cut-out letters forming the word "fabulous" are seen flying out from the wall and revealing differently-styled letters, which also fly off at a rapid pace. As the camera starts to rotate into place, flashes of multicolored light start to go off for a brief second as well. Once the camera settles into place, the screen then trembles as the posters are ripped off the wall and fly out of frame before the entire concrete wall, including the "fabulous" letters, are destroyed from the left, revealing a red background with the text now in a thick white font. The screen stops trembling as a URL "www.fabulousfilms.co.uk" fades in below, and then the screen flashes mostly white.

Technique: CGI. Made by David McGraph.

Audio: A orchestral dissonance made up of various horn notes and sound effects, including the sounds of paper flapping for the letters. The tune turns more chaotic as the logo is formed, and then a final orchestral beat is timed with the flash. At the end, the sound of a heart beating can be barely heard.

Availability: Seen on all of their titles on DVD and Blu-Ray, including their releases of The Smurfs, The Raccoons, and other titles.

  • Despite the fact the logo is on the front, spine, back and disc labels of the 2015 UK DVD release of The Return of The Pink Panther (1975), it does not appear on it, due to it being an direct reissue of the 2006 Universal Pictures Home Entertainment UK DVD release.
