Background

This was the vanity card of James Burrows (previously of Charles Burrows Charles Productions with Glen Charles and Les Charles). It was formed in 1995 as a joint venture between Burrows and NBC Studios, and produced five series for NBC. It was later renamed to 3 Princesses and a P in 2017.

1st Logo (September 21, 1995-May 13, 1999)

Visuals: There are three instances of the word "SISTER" (all in capital letters) in blue, purple, and pink respectively, and the word "ENTERTAINMENT" under them. All three words begin to fall one by one in clapperboard fashion until all of them are upright.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The show's end theme. Original NBC airings used a generic theme.

Availability: It appeared on Caroline in the City, Union Square, and the first season of Will & Grace.

2nd Logo (September 21, 1999-May 18, 2006)

Visuals: In a time lapse cloudy sky background, a white streak runs down facing upwards, in a "3" pattern. The path brings forth a solid white "3" that pans downward and zooms back to face the camera. In the process, the background fades to white and the "3" is enclosed in a blue box with a line on the bottom in the same color. The word "S I S T E R S" quickly spreads out on the right side of the "3" with the first "S" being enclosed in the box as well (turning white in the process), and the word "E N T E R T A I N M E N T" in a smaller font fades in below between the box and the line.

Variants:

  • A true 16:9 widescreen version exists.
  • Starting with the episode "Christmas Break", the logo was given a high definition look. The sky background in the beginning is darker.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A peaceful 2 note violin-cello sounder with 3 acoustic guitar notes in the background. Otherwise, it uses the ending theme or none. Original NBC airings used a generic theme.

Availability: Seen on Will & Grace episodes starting with season 2 up until the eighth and final season of the show's original run.
