Background

HGV Video Productions Inc. was a Canadian home video distributor that primarily released titles from United States-based discount video distributors, among them GoodTimes Entertainment, MNTEX Entertainment, Burbank Video, Anchor Bay Entertainment, and its predecessors Video Treasures and Starmaker Entertainment. In 1999, HGV stopped using its name on its releases, instead using the names of the videos' original distributors. In 2002, Anchor Bay purchased HGV Video Productions and re-named the company as Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada, Ltd.

Logo (1989-1998)

Visuals: On a black background, five hot magenta stripes, which get progressively thinner the farther left they are, come in from the left, a white "HGV" comes in from the right, and "Video Productions Inc.", in the same color as the stripes, comes in from the bottom, all moving at the same time. As soon as they meet in the center, the word "presents" in white, fades in below.

Variant: At the end of tapes, "presents" is omitted.

Technique: Analog computer animation.

Audio: Same as the 1987-1990 music of the 1st GoodTimes Home Video logo. On some releases, it's silent.

Availability: Appears on Canadian VHS releases of Video Treasures/Anchor Bay back catalog, including Troll, Cannonball Run, Ghoulies, and Thomas the Tank Engine videos, to name a few. Also appeared on Canadian video prints of A Christmas Carol (a.k.a. Scrooge). The comapny also released Goodtimes Home Video VHS tapes into Canada.
