Background

Contender Home Entertainment was the home video division of the Contender Entertainment Group formed in 2005 as part of a split between the company's home video and television divisions, with their TV division becoming Rubber Duck Entertainment.

In March 2009, Contender Home Entertainment was folded after CEG rebranded as E1 Entertainment UK (later Entertainment One UK), and from then-on, ex-Contender releases simply used regular E1/eOne logos.

Logo (7 February 2005-2009)

Visuals: Same as the 2005 Contender Entertainment Group logo, except that the orange sun is instead a 5-pointed star with a ring surrounding it. The end result is now the star in the same scratched red-orange look as the original CEG logo, but with the letter "C" on it. Below the "CONTENDER" text, there is the text "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" under it.

Technique: CGI by Fletcher Wilson.

Audio: Same as the Contender Entertainment Group logo.

Availability: Seen on Contender DVD releases from the time-period until 2009.

  • It is preserved on Peppa Pig DVD releases from "New Shoes and Other Stories" to "Stars".
  • It can also be found on select releases of 4Kids Entertainment shows such as Winx Club Volumes 1 and 2, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Volumes 1, 2, and 3, etc.
  • Some earlier releases such as Volumes 2-4 of Pokemon Chronicles have the logo on the packaging but use the previous logo on-screen.
  • DVD releases of Contender's theatrical releases instead use the Contender Films logo as a de-facto home video logo.
  • Later reprints of Peppa Pig releases plaster this logo with the Entertainment One logo instead.
