Background

BBC Home Entertainment was the BBC's former home video distributor. 2 Entertain used to distribute the BBC's releases, with the BBC's logo following 2 Entertain's logo, but in May 2012, 2 years after Woolworth's sold their stake in 2 Entertain. The BBC started to self distribute releases. In 2019, the label was replaced by BBC Studios Home Entertainment.

Logo (2009-2019?)

Visuals: A red screen flashes in a red lens flare, and it causes the BBC logo to appear, this time in a small, purple box. The background then glows in red as several flares in different colours, suddenly flashing one by one, light the BBC logo. The effect of flashing also appears on circles that left. The colour in the background changes each time a flash appears.

Trivia: A shortened logo, sometimes with "Worldwide Sales & Distribution" (early season 1 episodes of Bluey had "PRODUCED IN ASSOCIATION WITH AND DISTRIBUTED BY BBC WORLDWIDE" above it and "Bluey © 2018 Ludo Studio" below it), "Worldwide Channels" or just a copyright notice was used by BBC Worldwide.

Technique: Computer animation, designed by Lambie-Nairn and Trollbäck+Company.

Audio: A synthesized tune accompanied by strings, organs and drum beats. The drums are synced with the circles.

Availability: Seen on BBC Home Entertainment releases from 2009 until sometime in 2019, following the 2 Entertain logo on releases from 2009 until 2012, with Bill Bailey's Jungle Hero, and the Bill Oddie's How to Watch Wildlife and Doctor Who DVD releases of the period being some of the releases to have this logo.

  • In its last three years of existence, it was used in tandem with the BBC Studios Home Entertainment logo.
  • This logo can be also seen after the 2005 2 Entertain logo on a few Universal Pictures Home Entertainment DVD releases in the UK, which have been released under distribution by the BBC.
