Avalanche Home Entertainment

Background

Avalanche Home Entertainment was a division of Lions Gate Films that was founded in 1998 to distribute smaller Canadian B-movies and independent films. Some of their DVDs were also distributed by Platinum Disc. After Lionsgate acquired Trimark in 2000, Avalanche Home Entertainment dissolved into Lionsgate Home Entertainment the following year.

Logo (1999-2001)

Visuals: On a rippling crystal blue background, a dark blue triangle points out of a avalanche of snow, which flows heavily down the front of the screen. From the snowfront, the word "AVALANCHE" swoops down letter-by-letter into place, from the center outwards, and the snow then clears out to reveal the rest of the triangle, revealing a large "A". Purple lights then appear across the top of the "A", forming a large bolt-like figure with a white-dark blue gradient inside of it, and the "AVALANCHE" text forms a white gradient across the top. Below, a white-dark blue line wipes in from center-out, and has "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" below it, along with a Lions Gate Films byline and small lion logo on the right.

Technique: 2D CGI.

Audio: A dramatic horn tune ending in an orchestral hit (ripped from Peter Siedlaczek's Orchestral Colors), followed by an ethereal synth tune.

Availability: Appears on older VHS/DVDs like Tiger Claws II, Cyber Vengeance, Expect to Die, Glam, Crisis, Shivers, Hitman's Run, Nemesis 4: Death Angel, Requiem for Murder and Papertrail, among others. Also appears on Amazon Prime's print of Last Stand.
