Background

Lux was a film company that operated between 1906 and 1914.

Visuals: This essentially consists of a realistic drawing of the Statue of Liberty with ""LUX"" underneath it on a black background.

Opening Titles: Within a Greek-like architecture with what appears to be wreaths on the top, the Statue of Liberty is on the right side and the title of the film on the left. The words "KINEMA "LUX" PARIS" with "LUX" in a larger size than the rest is underneath an unusual bar. To the bottom left reads "998.1.HLL".

Variants:

A green tinted variant exists.
Sometimes, the opening titles have the bottom left text read differently.
Sometimes, the opening titles omit the Statue of Liberty.
On Gare! Les lions!, everything from the architecture to the statue and text are filled in white.
Gratitude obsédante has an alternate version of both the statue and the company name where the former is less detailed and the latter is in a different font.

Availability: The title card variant is easier to find and was preserved on old German and Dutch prints of their many films such as Gare! Les lions!, Le chien insaisissable, Ma concierge est trop jolie, and Gratitude obsédante. The standard variant was seen on the Cunégonde short films such as Cunégonde jalouse and Cunégonde trop curieuse albeit restored. The unrestored version of the standard logo was seen on Gare! Les lions!. All of the aforementioned films are preserved by the Eye Filmmuseum and are therefore kept on them, but half of the time, the logo is left out either due to the releases replacing them with a different opening and ending title due to them being in Dutch, or start or end with a black screen.
