Background

Our Stories Films was founded by Robert L. Johnson and the Weinstein brothers on July 13, 2006 to produce films for black audiences. The company released only one film through the Weinstein joint venture, Who's Your Caddy?, before becoming independent. The company became dormant in the early 2010s, with Johnson later going on to acquire Image Entertainment (now RLJE Films).

Visuals: On a sunny evening, eight African-Americans and one Caucasian are shown having fun on top of a roof. The camera pans down to reveal a brownstone apartment. The screen pans to a window featuring a family eating dinner. The screen pans down even further to reveal a man and a woman on a romantic date, drinking wine. The camera goes down even further to reveal a red door. A man tickles his three children and then he leaves. When this happens, the yellow-brown text:

Our StOries
fILms

illuminates from the brownstone buildings. The logo zooms out to reveal the entire house. Birds fly above it. The sunny sky fades to turn into night. The byline "AN RLJ COMPANY" fades below the logo.

Trivia: One of the kids in the logo is Kamilah Meek, who appeared in a cameo on the pilot episode of Victorious.

Technique: Live-action with green-screen effects and CGI. Done by Picturemill.

Audio: A hip-hop tune that gradually turns into a calm piano tune with whooshing sounds, people talking and kids laughing. This was composed by Kevin Teasley.

Availability: Can be seen on Who's Your Caddy?. The company's only other film, Jumping the Broom, just has an in-credit notice.
