Background
Hui's Film Production is a Hong Kong film company founded in 1974 by the well-known Hui brothers, specifically Michael Hui. The company produced its first 7 films under Golden Harvest, which they became independent from in the late '80s.
1st Logo (1986-1988)
Visuals: The screen zooms out from a red screen, which is revealed to be a filmstrip with the top extended going off-screen. When the filmstrip stops zooming out, the top half shorts down, forming a square. Two lines slit themselves vertically on both quarters of the top and bottom of the filmstrip, forming an "H". The text "許氏 Hui's Film Production" fades in at the bottom of the "H".
Technique: Motion-controlled animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen on films from the company at the time, such as Happy Din Don.
2nd Logo (July 14, 1988-1990s)
Visuals: On a black/blue gradient background, two parallel golden sparkling lines streak in from the left and right sides of the screen, and disappear as the outline of the "H" from the previous logo (along with the filmstrip holes), set in gold, fades in. The "H" fills with a gold/white/sky blue, chrome-like texture as well as the filmstrip holes appearing uncolored on the left side. The "H" shines twice. On the second time, the text "Hui's Film Production Co., Ltd." in an Arial font appears below it, along with its Chinese translation (in yellow) popping in letter-by-letter a second later. The "H" gets overloaded with sparkles on the second shine before they disappear.
Technique: Backlit cel animation.
Audio: First, there is a whoosh, followed by a faint synth arpeggio along with a seven-note synth horn fanfare. After this, three chime notes play along with faint sparkling noises.
Availability: Can be seen on Chicken and Duck Talk. It might be seen on some other films from the company.
3rd Logo (2010s)
Visuals: Basically a parody of the 2002 Marvel Studios logo. In a red tint, several movie posters from the company's films (such as The Last Message, Games Gamblers Play, The Contract, and The Private Eyes) flip by the screen in a flipbook fashion. "HUIFILM", in the Marvel typeface, emerges from the posters, zooming out. When the posters disappear, a line appears below "HUIFILM" and divides to reveal "P R O D U C T I O N" sandwiched between the lines. The background fades out and the logo gets embossed with darkness.
Technique: 2D CGI.
Audio: A dramatic-sounding chime theme which segues into a triumphant fanfare.
Availability: It is currently unknown what films this logo appears on.
4th Logo (2016)
Visuals: On a black background, an abstract drawing of a duck with its right foot raised is seen in front of a circle-plus, zooming out and spinning a few times before settling down. Below that is Chinese text that fades in from various positions, which stay for a couple seconds before disappearing.
Variant: A closing variant exists where the duck and the circle are now colored, the Chinese text is now on the left side of the duck and there is "製作" on the right side of it.
Technique: 2D computer animation.
Audio: A simple guitar tune with quacking sounds when the Chinese text fades out. On the closing variant, it's the closing theme of the movie.
Availability: Seen on the documentary The Posterist.
