Background

The Walt Disney Family Museum is an American museum dedicated to the life and legacy of Walt Disney, founded by his daughter Diane Disney Miller and grandson Walter Miller. It opened in 2009 in San Francisco, and has since produced various documentary films on Disney-related subjects. Despite working with The Walt Disney Company on various films and exhibitions, the museum is not a company subsidiary and is instead owned and operated by the Walt Disney Family Foundation.

Visuals: On a white background, seven small boxes containing vintage film clips of Walt Disney fade and slide in before settling in a row along the bottom of the screen. The center box, which features an extreme close-up of Walt, turns into a monochromatic portrait rendered in white and orange with an orange border and shifts to the top-center. The box then extends downward to reveal the stacked white text "THE WALT DISNEY FAMILY MUSEUM" below the portrait.

Trivia: The seven film clips of Walt are from the following: a very early Newman Laugh-O-gram film (ca. 1921); the MGM travelogue short Los Angeles: Wonder City of the West (1935); the original teaser trailer for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937); home movie footage (year unknown); The Disneyland Story, the premiere episode of his weekly television show (1954); Disneyland Goes to the World's Fair, a 1964 episode of his show; and the 1966 promotional film where he explained his vision for E.P.C.O.T.

Technique: Stock footage and computer effects.

Audio: A majestic fanfare, which is an excerpt from the score of the original Carousel of Progress attraction from the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. Otherwise, the ending theme of the film.

Availability: Seen on the museum's original documentary films, which are usually screened only at the museum in San Francisco. One of them, Christmas with Walt Disney, is available to stream on Disney+.
