Background

Taehung Pictures was one of the leading film studios in South Korea during the 20th century. It was founded by film producer Lee Tae-won in 1984.

1st Logo (1990)

Visuals: On a black background, we see a red pointed triangle with the word "TAEHUNG" overlaid in front of it. Next to the logo we see the Hanja name of the company in yellow, with the English "TAE HUNG PRODUCTION CO., LTD." below.

Technique: None.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the trailer for The General's Son.

2nd Logo (August 6, 1994-January 29, 2000)

Visuals: We pan from a tree to a shot of a Korean temple at night. White waves of light are shown moving at the left. The camera moves to the door of the temple, which opens, with the lights also entering the door. These then disappear as form three sparks, and dust rises up from below forming a fire symbol, while a "T" appears fading in behind it. The Hangul text "태흥영화 ㅣ주ㅣ" fades in below the logo while it is nearly formed, with the fire symbol turning tan. The spread-out "TAEHUNG PICTURES" fades in below.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Begins with synthesizers, then a cymbal noise is heard, changing the theme into a dramatic fanfare with drums heard during the forming of the symbol.

Availability: Seen on films they've produced since 1994, including Rosy Life, Chang, and Chunhyang.
