Background

Eros Films Limited was a British film distribution and production company. It operated from May 1947 to June 1961 and was founded by brothers Philip, Sydney, and Michael Hyams. Eros Films distributed American films in the UK, but also financed and distributed British independent film productions. Later, Eros Films would also co-produce several films. The company declared bankruptcy in 1961. Most, if not all of Eros Films's output now sits with MGM's library.

Logo (September 1950-1961?)

Visuals: On a cloud background, a winged circular emblem (made up of the word "EROS" with the small words "FILMS LTD" between "E" and "S") flips up with "PRESENTS" below.

Variants:

  • A still color variant has the "EROS" emblem on a disc. "EROS" and "PRESENTS" are in yellow, the wings and the disc are in silvery-blue and "FILMS LTD" is embossed on the disc.
  • On some films such as Another Man's Poison, "PRESENTS" is absent.

Technique: Practical animation.

Audio: A horn fanfare similar to 20th Century Fox, or a custom fanfare. Otherwise none or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on their releases. The color variant can be seen on The Man Who Watched Trains Go By.
