B.R. Films is an Indian film company founded in 1955 by Baldev Raj Chopra.



1st Logo (April 13, 1956-January 18, 1963)


Visuals: There's a dark room. Then, there's a yellow light (which looks like the sun) from behind two silhouetted statues. Following this, there's another light illuminating the statues. The statues are a man with a hammer and a cogwheel on his hands and a woman carrying a heap of wheat. Both statues are over a blue semi-circle, surrounded by cotton clouds. Inside the circle, we read (on the border) "ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS", which in Latin means "Art is long, life is short". Below the text is two stylized initials "BR". Below it is "FILMS" in yellow, with black borders.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A melody with a tampura while a man is singing.

Availability: Seen first on Ek Hi Rasta. Also seen on Dhool Ka Phool, Naya Daur, Kanoon, Sadhna and Gumrah.

2nd Logo (July 30, 1965-October 20, 2006)

Visuals: Against a dark background, there is the silhouette of the statues from the first logo against the same sun pattern. Smoke slowly rises behind the logo. As the background begins to glow, the orb the statues are perched rotates (but the statues themselves stay still). The globe shows a map of India with the words "ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS" in yellow above it. On the map are the letters BR in a red cursive font, and the word FILMS in a brown serif font below it.
