Background
Ninja Theory is a British video game developer based in Cambridge, United Kingdom founded in March 2000 as Just Add Monsters by former Sony Interactive Entertainment employees Mike Ball, Nina Kristensen and Tameem Antonaides. The studio was acquired by Argonaut Software in October 2000, but after their bankruptcy and subsequent closure in 2004, the studio went through a management buyout and recieved its current name. The studio is best known for the Hellblade series, as well as various other titles such as Bleeding Edge, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Heavenly Sword. The studio also developed DmC: Devil May Cry, a reboot of Capcom's Devil May Cry franchise. Ninja Theory was acquired by Microsoft and became part of Xbox Game Studios on June 10, 2018.
Just Add Monsters
(February 25, 2003)
Logo: On a white backdrop, we see a group of lavender-colored, crudely drawn human figures excitedly hop around, with two purple shapes in the middle. A gray, blobby monster with horns holding a pitchfork jumps out of one of the shapes as the people run away in fear. The monster runs right and the text shrinks to reveal the stacked name "JUST ADD MONSTERS". The monster flips and lands situated to the right of the name, casting a shadow. The byline "part of the Argonaut Games PLC Group." appears below. The monster looks at the name and blinks.
FX/SFX: The animation of the figures and the monster, done in CGI.
Music/Sounds: A beatbox tune and sounds of the figures talking to begin, which stops and turns into screaming when the monster appears, the steps of the monster, a "glug" sound when the monster lands next to the logo, and a waterdrop sound as it blinks.
Availability: Seen only on Kung Fu Chaos on Xbox.
Ninja Theory
1st Logo (September 12, 2007-September 26, 2016)
Logo: On a black background, we see a crudely-drawn box containing a close-up image of some sort of ninja, with a red scarf covering up half of its face, only its eyes visible. Above is the text "NINJA" in a crude brush design, and "THEORY" below in a white standard Serif font. The box emits a faint glow.
Variants:
- On Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, the logo is on a white background, larger and without the glow.
- On DmC: Devil May Cry, the glow is absent.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Common. Was seen on the studio's games, such as Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and DmC: Devil May Cry.
2nd Logo (August 8, 2017-)
Logo: On a black background, we see the white text "NINJA THEORY" in a serif font.
Variant: On Bleeding Edge, the text is larger and more spaced out, and slowly moves back.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Common. Seen on the studio's games since Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.
