Background

In 1996, San Mateo, California-based game developer Condor, Inc. was acquired by Blizzard Entertainment and renamed to Blizzard North. After making the first two Diablo games, Blizzard closed the studio in 2005.

1st Logo (January 3, 1997-May 8, 1998)

Logo: Same as the Blizzard logo, but in a silvery-green tone, and "ENTERTAINMENT" is removed. Under the logo is "NORTH" with an outlined rectangle to the left of it.

Technique: None.

Audio: None.

Availability: Appears on Diablo for PC.

2nd Logo (June 29, 2000-June 29, 2001)

Logo: Against a snowy background, we see a big light blue blur appearing. Then it turns into the Blizzard logo letter-by-letter, and then the rectangle part and "NORTH" complete the logo. The logo is in a frozen-crystalised style. The snow continues to fall.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A low "whoosh" sound with different types of whooshes as the logo appears part-by-part.

Availability: Appears on Diablo II and its expansion pack, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
