Background

WhatsApp Messenger is a freeware, cross-platform, instant messaging and VoIP service owned by Meta. It allows used to send text, voice, or video messages, make voice and video calls, and share images, documents, and other content. The app was launched on February 2009 by Brian Acton and Jan Koum. It became the world's most popular messaging application by 2015, and has more than 2 billion users worldwide by February 2020.

Screen (2010s-)

Visuals: On a white (if the device is on light mode) or gray (if the device is on dark mode) background, there is an outlined speech bubble symbol with a telephone symbol in green (if the device is in light mode) or white (if the device is in dark mode). At the bottom of the screen, we see "from" and the Meta logo stacked together.

Variants: In older versions of the app, the logo's symbol is white and has a green filling inside it, against a white background. The text "FACEBOOK" was also in place of the Meta logo. Before November 4, 2019, only the WhatsApp icon is present.
