Background

WFFT-TV (channel 55) is a television station licensed to Fort Wayne, Indiana. The station started broadcasting on December 21, 1977 as an independent station, but in 1986, it later became a Fox affiliate as the network was launching. The station lost its affiliation in 2011 due to a dispute over a retransmission consent fees that it wanted its stations to pay the network, but then returned again two years later. It also has go through many TV station owners in the past such as Nexstar Media Group, Heartland Media, and now, it's owned by Allen Media Group

1st Logo (1978)


Visuals: Multicolor lines are seen sliding down one-by-one (blue-green-yellow-orange-red) to form a rainbow rectangle on a black background, which also has the same rectangle at the left. Then, curves that has the same colors with the lines that form the triangle, draws themself with the same pattern as the lines forming earlier to create a rainbow circular object at the bottom of both the rectangles. The same lines earlier then draws itself again at the top of the two rectangles to make a rainbow square, but with the opposite pattern as before. And with those objects combining together, the station's number (55) is formed. After that, the number flashes and zooms out to the bottom left, a flash occurs and move from left to right above the number after it stop zooming, and the text "Makin' TV fun again!" can be seen as the flash moving. The programme of the station with it's date and time of it ("THAT'S HOLLYWOOD SUNDAY 6PM") then appears at the top.

Technique: 2D computer animation

Audio: A cheerful tune, with a female choir singing: "Fifty-five, again, for you, channel 55!". Shortly after, a male announcer anonunces the station's programme with the dates and the time that it would be aired ("That's Hollywood Sunday at 6pm")

2nd Logo (1995)


Visuals: On a brown background, a tower similarly to 20th Century Studios’s logo appears, which faces diagonally to the left, and has two gold-colored objects being stacked above or below each other, with two thin rectangle with the same color being below each of the objects to separate them from each other. In the structure, the object above is a large and thin word "FOX", with the letter "O" having the number "55" and the handrawn word "Super" to create the station’s slogan, which is: "Super 55 Fox"; and the object below is the text "WFFT-TV". The wide text "FORT WAYNE" (The station’s location) appears on the rectangle which is in-between the two objects, and similarly to the 20th Century Studios logo, searchlights are also seen behind scanning the sky

Audio: A majestic trumpet fanfare, accompanied by an announcer saying: "WFFT-TV, Fort Wayne".

3rd Logo (1996)


Visuals: On a black background which has a brown flash occured at the centered bottom-half and stars shooting to the top, the same structure as the last logo appears, but in here, the structure faces the screen unlike the last logo; the word "FORT WAYNE" is less widened out and is placed at the rectangle below the word "WFFT-TV"; everything is colored "brown", except the number "55", the word "Super" and the word "FORT WAYNE" being beige. Searchlights also can be seen scanning the sky behind.

Audio: A majestic and proud fanfare, accompanied by an announcer saying: "WFFT-TV, Fort Wayne".

4th Logo (2007)


Visuals: On an animated azure & lavender gradient background which has a flash occurring at the bottom left, a blue rectangle is seen zooming in while being blurred out. In the rectangle, the 1996 Fox logo colored in white appears on the top left and a white number "55" being at its right, which has a white line in-between to separate them; while a blurred white text "WFFT-TV • FORT WAYNE" is seen at the bottom, that also has a white line above to separate it from the others. A flare then appeared at the bottom-half going to from the left to the right with wavy movements, and also reveals the text "NOW AVAILABLE IN HD", having the same color as the rectangle. And as the flare moves, the rectangle is also seen being clearer than before. The rectangle and the text continue zooming out for a few more seconds, before fading out with the blue word "ENJOY!" appearing. A 5-pointed electrical star shape occurs, then a blue orb zooms in and out, revealing the logo from before and the word "HD" zooming in.

Audio: A relaxing fanfare, accompanied by a group of people singing which has the main singer being a woman.

5th Logo (2009)


Visuals: On an animated red & black background with a flash moving to the right from the left, the current Fox logo is seen turning and zooming out, while a white parallelogram zooms in and stops right where the logo lands. A red paralleologram which contains the white text of the station’s location also turns from the behind of the red paralleologram to face the screen. The white text "NOW IN FULL DIGITAL POWER" zooms out to the center letter-by-letter, while at the same time, an another small white text "Re-Scan Your Converter Box or Digital TV to receive FOX Fort Wayne on 55.1" appears at the bottom.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A rock theme.
