Logo (1989-1994, 1998)

Visuals: There is a picture of the Earth, with all the Sanrio characters circling around it. The characters begin to sparkle, before turning into a stream of lights that starts to curve away from the planet. Switching to another camera angle is the light stream up close, as words sparkle and begin to form, then zoom out, settling in place center screen: "Sanrio Animation Series." As this happens, Hello Kitty (with a mouth, which was never present on the character prior) is seen on screen towards the end, waving a magic wand to make a heart shape appear in lights, before she disappears. The text turns pink and a star appears on the first E of "Series".
Trivia: The characters that can be seen around the Earth are My Melody, Little Twin Stars (Kiki & Lala), Noranekoland, Minna no Tabo, Hello Kitty, Tuxedo Sam, Marron Cream, The Vaudeville Duo, Pochacco, Keroppi, Pokopon's Diary, Pekkle, Zashikibuta, Hangyodon, Dachonosuke and Cheery Chums. It is rumored that in the 1993, 1994 and 1998 OVAs, other characters such as Badtz-Maru, Chococat, PompomPurin, Monkichi and Corocorokuririn are added; however, this is yet to be confirmed as of this writing.
Variant: On English-dubbed versions of their shorts, only the ending is seen.
Technique: Cel animation.
Audio: A timpani hit with a crescendoing piano arpeggio, which turns into a charmy fanfare with sparkles. The English variant had no sounds.
Availability: Used to appear on Hello Kitty OVAs. It was also seen on Hello Kitty's First Christmas Cake (1998).
Legacy: A nostalgic logo for Sanrio fans who used to watch Hello Kitty OVAs.
