Background

PT. Unggul Cipta Piranti, doing business as Emperor Edutainment and formerly Emperor Optical Disc, is a home entertainment and educational video distributor from Indonesia, founded in 1994.

1st Logo (1998-2003)

Logo: Takes place on a somewhat fiery, hellish sky background. A spinning sculpture of an eagle, made from glass, appears. Then, we zoom into the eagle's face. This cuts to the Emperor Optical Disc logo, in 3D, moving to the center. The words "OPTICAL DISC", spaced out, fade in as the background soon gets darker.

Variant: An early still version of the logo exists.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: Calm, majestic synth music plays as we hear eagle screeches, thunder and jet-like "WHOOSH!" noises.

Availability: Extremely rare. Most of Emperor VCDs during this era either go up to the warning screen, disc info screen, or go straight up to the start of the movie or program. It can still be found on old cartoon VCDs from the company, while recent prints have the next logo below. Emperor also served as the temporary Indonesian home video distributor of New Line Cinema, Miramax Films, and a few independent studios from 2000 to 2002, one of the instances of the logo's appearance being Sugar & Spice.

2nd Logo (2003-2019?)

Logo: On a black BG, "Emperor" zooms out letter-by-letter to the center of the screen, in a better looking CGI. The words ripple and have a reflection. After everything finishes, a blue orb of light appears and draws 2 glowing neon blue arcs. A CGI pen appears, writes "edutainment" onscreen, then disappears. The logo shines.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: One song from Ninja Warrior (original Japanese version), accompanied by whooshes and slams.

Availability: Very common. Seen on newer VCDs from Emperor. The 2003 VCD of Albert Asks: What Is Life shows the print version of previous logo on the packaging, but the main feature showed this instead.
