Background

Canadian Television Fund was a non-profit organization that supports production and broadcast of Canadian television programs. Founded in 1998, their objectives are to support creation and broadcast by the Department of Canadian Heritage. Other objectives includes allocating one-third of its resources to French-programming and the other two-third to English-programming, providing development funds, and make it necessary for market to be progressed. However, in April 1 2010, it merged with Canada New Media Fund and creates Canada Media Fund.

Logo (1998?-April 1, 2010)

Visuals: Consists of the text "Canadian Television Fund" with a maple seed positioned in the left. This logo is accompanied with the text “Produced with the participation of” over it and “created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian cable industry” underneath.

Variants:

  • The maple seed will sometimes appear outlined and traced. This variant was seen on a handful of TV shows.
  • A bilingual variant exists with both the names, “Canadian Television Fund” and “Fonds canadien de télévision”
    • Additionally, a French-language only variant exists as well. Only shown in programs produced in Quebec.
  • In some instances, the logo is inside a white box.
  • On YAA! To The MAX, the logo is shown inside a red square with the maple seed imposed near the center.
  • A print version of this logo exists.
  • A rare promo reel for this organization exists.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the show/movie.

Audio Variants: The promo reel features strange mystical-like instruments of woodwinds, strings, and piano notes at the start and end.

Availability: Seen at the end of many television productions in Canada throughout the decade right until it’s eventual restructuring in 2010. The logo’s usage was rare to nonexistent at first, one of its earliest known appearance is from season 3 of “Student Bodies”. It is unknown whether this logo debuted earlier.
