Background

YG Entertainment Inc. (Korean: YG 엔터테인먼트) is a South Korean multinational entertainment agency established in 1996 by Yang Hyun-suk. His nickname at the time was Yang Goon, which would inspire the company name later on. The company operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company, event management and concert production company, and music publishing house. In addition, the company operates a number of subsidiary ventures under a separate public traded company, YG Plus, which includes a clothing line, a golf management agency, and a cosmetics brand.

Current artists include: Sechs Kies, Big Bang, G-Dragon, Akdong Musician, Winner, Blackpink, Treasure and BabyMonster as well as actors and actresses including: Kang Dong-won, Choi Ji-woo, Cha Seung-won, Lee Sung-kyung, Jin Kyung, Jang Ki-yong, Yoo In-na, Son Na-eun and Yoo Seung-ho. Other notable artists include: Zion.T, Jeon Somi, Taeyang, Vince, Bryan Chase and R.Tee who are under YG Entertainment's subsidiary The Black Label.

1st Logo (2013-)

Visuals: An in-credit logo featuring "YG" in a distinctive geometric font and with either "ENTERTAINMENT" below the wordmark or the following to the right side of the wordmark:

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The closing theme.

Availability: Can be seen on WIN: Who is Next and concert DVDs such as Blackpink: The Show. Also seen on Blackpink: The Movie, appearing after the next logo and the ScreenX Originals logo.

2nd Logo (2016-)

Visuals: Multiple geometric letters spin about on a black background. Two of the letters, "Y" and "G", rotate together in the middle of the screen. Glare then appears reflected on the "YG" which has stopped moving and becomes "merged" into a single wordmark (the "YG" from the previous logo). All the other letters disappear as the background fades to black, leaving out the "YG" in white.

Technique: CGI.

Audio:

  • Big Bang Made: Electric drum beats play throughout the logo, with the loudest drumbeat playing when the glare appears.
  • Blackpink: The Movie: Synth chimes play throughout the logo.
