Background

Wonderland Sound and Vision is the vanity plate of writer and director Joseph McGinty Nichol (known professionally as McG). The company was launched in 2001, but did not use a logo until the following year. The company is named after Wonderland Avenue, where McG moved to Los Angeles.

1st Logo (September 18, 2002-December 27, 2013)

Logo: On a red and black gradient background, we see a large, 3-dimensional "W" with lights inside of it to make it resemble a font seen on scoreboards. On the letter, we see a 3-dimensional ribbon (similar to the 1998 Warner Bros. Pictures logo) engraved with the word "WONDERLAND". Below the "W" is the text "SOUND AND VISION" in a small, black, 3-dimensional font with gold shadowing. If you can look closely, there's a tiny "emek" located on the bottom right of the logo.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the logo is squished to 4:3.
  • On the first season of The O.C., the logo is next to the Hypnotic logo.
  • An early version exists, where "SOUND AND VISION" has an ampersand instead.
  • On Dan Finnerty & the Dan Band: I Am Woman, a weird variant exists where the logo is cropped to 4:3, the logo's animation is repeated several times, the below text is like the early version (but in gold) and "emek" in a different font.

FX/SFX: The shining of the logo.

Music/Sounds: A loud buzzing sound and a crash. Otherwise, it mostly uses the end theme of the show or none.

Availability: Seen on the first eight seasons of Supernatural, The O.C., Human Target, Chuck, Nikita, Fastlane, Aim High and The Mountain. It can be also seen on home media releases and television broadcasts of each of the programs, as well as on Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series and Dan Finnerty & the Dan Band: I Am Woman.

2nd Logo (September 12, 2014-May 6, 2019)

Logo: On a white background, we see the "W" from the previous logo, except it's in 2D, "SOUND AND VISION" is removed, the "W" is orange, and the outlines and "WONDERLAND" are black. The logo slowly zooms in.

Variants:

  • On Before We Go, an early version of the logo is shown, where the logo is on a black background with some part of white color near the logo, and "SOUND AND VISION" is under the logo. This version is completely still.
  • On I Feel Pretty, the logo almost takes up the entire screen.
  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.

FX/SFX: The zooming.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme.

Availability: Uncommon. It appears on When We First Met, The Babysitter, Before We Go, Shadowhunters, Kevin from Work, and I Feel Pretty. Don't expect for this to appear on The Mysteries of Laura, Lethal Weapon (2016), or later episodes of Supernatural, though.

3rd Logo (May 24, 2019-)

Logo: On a black background, an orange spotlight appears, then followed by a neon orange outline of the letter W. The lights (in the same color as the W) near it turn on, and then, "WONDERLAND" in a three-dimensional ribbon appears. The result is the first logo, but without "SOUND AND VISION".

Variants:

  • On Christmas movies such as Holidaze and Love Hard, the logo is red and green colored.
  • On Turner & Hooch (2021), the logo is shortened.
  • A still version exists.
  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.

FX/SFX: The lights turning on. Simple but good CGI.

Music/Sounds: Four buzzing sounds in sync with the animation.

Availability: Common. It appears on Rim of the World, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Turner & Hooch (2021), Holidaze, Kirby Jenner, Love Hard, and The Winchesters. Don't expect this to appear on the final season of Supernatural.
