Background

After a gunman killed the general sales manager in 1984, TVX renamed the station WNRW, incorporating his initials. WNRW became the market's first Fox affiliate in 1986; TVX then sold it to Act III Broadcasting in 1986 in order to acquire a station in the adjacent Raleigh market. Act III combined the station's schedule and programming with Greensboro independent WGGT in 1991, creating a simulcast.

ID (1987)

Visuals: On a black/blue gradient background, a golden rectangle is shown zooming out while facing the viewer slightly, as rainbow stripes slide across it, leaving a mark. The rectangle slides away, revealing the golden number "45" in a futuristic font. The station's name in golden as well as its headquarters in wite slide in from the left, as the logo tilts a bit. A rainbow stripe then slides again.

Trivia: The animation was also used for WLFL-TV's 1988 station ID.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat synth tune accompanied by three zaps and ending with a cheerful 6-note synth piano with an announcer saying "You're watching WNRW. Channel 45, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point.".
