Background

Vesti is the main news program of Russia-1. It was founded in 1991, during the establishment of the VGTRK and RTR networks. The program is simulcast on the other VGTRK channels RTR-Planeta and Russia-24.

Intro (May 13, 1991-April 4, 1994)

Visuals: The name of the broadcaster of the program — "ВСЕРОССИЙСКАЯ ТЕЛЕРАДИОКОМПАНИЯ" flies across the starry sky leaving a trail while at it. A grey rectangular frame slides in from the bottom-right corner as the camera pans towards it, as well as three royal-blue, vertical shapes sliding in with the first being slightly curved from the rest and the other 2 shapes having a small hole punctured between them (actually reading "CH", which is the abbreviation of the producer of the program — "СЛУЖБА НОВОСТЕЙ") sliding in from the right, sitting on top of the grey frame, also making it as the background. During the action, a spinning white sphere containing "СЛУЖБА НОВОСТЕЙ" emerges from the top-right corner, zooms in towards the camera, and sits within the punctured hole between the 2 vertical shapes, thus forming the Vesti logo. the logo moves to the upper right corner of the screen as an animated scene of three horses galloping with a carriage behind it fades in. The logo returns to its original spot, revealing the name of the program — "ВЕСТИ".

Variants: From November 1, 1993 to April 3, 1994, the sponsor's logo was placed in the splash screen in the lower right corner.

Technique: A mix of CGI and cel animation by Igor Barbe.

Audio: A fragment of "'Celestial Accent', Large Organ Progression" from the Sound Ideas Series 1000 Library with a horse neigh and gallopings during the horse sequence. At the end, the same distorted guitar sting of the first Castle Home Video logo is heard.

Availability: Seen on Vesti news programs from 1991 to 1994.
