From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Background

Utopia Productions, Inc. was a film editing company based in New York. They produce film trailers in addition to radio and television commercials for film studios.

Leader (1960s-1980s?)

Visuals: The typical SMPTE Universal Leader with a logo frame flickering between the "SMPTE UNIVERSAL LEADER" and "PICTURE START" frames. The frame consists of a black screen with "UTOPIA" in a serif font, the "O" being a film reel and the "U" being the filmstrip coming out of the reel. Below, there is "PRODUCTIONS, INC." in a small sans serif font.

Technique: For the logo frame, a still graphic. Otherwise, cel animation.

Audio: The 2-pop beep during the countdown

Availability: Seen on 16mm prints of trailers and commercials produced and/or edited by the company, such as a trailer for Death Rides a Horse.
