A Warm Welcome Back

Hi there, Sagan! Figured I would take to opportunity to offer a warm welcome back to the wiki on behalf of the other members of staff. Many of us thought we'd never see the day when a veteran like yourself would return. Happy editing! (Lets chat!) 07:00, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

Oh hi! Seems a lot of things change during my departure, and it's good to see there are new members like yourself. SaganStudios (talk) 07:15, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh yeah. We definitely made a lot of changes, especially since September 2022. Gone are the following:
  • The CLG Wiki name (we decided on a fresh start by ditching a name associated with drama and went with AVID after a vote; we brought the CLG name back as an April Fools' joke)
  • Editor's Notes (replaced with Legacy, which doesn't have the POV'ing that plagued Editor's Notes, and quite a few Editor's Notes were just Cheesy/Scare Factors to begin with)
  • Nicknames (as so many of them were nonsensical and almost none of them were even used by the community; e.g. "Ultra Majestic Mountain" for the 2002 Paramount logo. Any well-known nicknames such as "S from Hell" go under Legacy, and official nicknames such as THX bumper names are on the section's name)
  • FX/SFX (replaced with Technique, which describes what effects were used for the logo rather than just being a laconic version of the logo's description)
  • The Board of Directors (this video will get you up to speed, but let's just say that Matt, Stephen, Shadeed and pretty much any member who isn't Snelfu were interested in making the CLG Wiki belong to their ilk, and no one else)
We also adopted two official mascots (Ace, whose head resembles the AVID "A" icon, and Vivi, who was originally created shortly before the rebrand; there was a third mascot, a frog named Jeff, but he didn't fit with the wiki and we got rid of him after his creator was banned). Infoboxes were added to the pages as well.
And the UI changed throughout our time on Miraheze, too: we started out with the Vector skin Wikipedia used, before switching to Timeless briefly and then settled on Medik, and Compooper recently modified the UI to look less like Wikipedia and more like our own. Much better and more modern than WikiFoundry's mid-2000s interface, really (incidentally, Cologne Blue was modified into a WikiFoundry throwback skin). · Talk · Edits 08:15, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
Oh wow, that's a lot more than what I peeked during my absence. I am so glad that we're treating this website like an actual wiki instead of kids describing their feelings on logos. The fact that this website has matured a lot makes me feel joy, although I was one of those people that made the website an immature one to begin with, haha! Yep, September 2022 turned out to be a positive turning point in AVID history. · Talk · Edits 11:01, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
Welcome back Sagan! Nice to see an old face come back. HB1290 (Talk · Edits) 09:12, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
Hey, thanks. It's nice to see you being the bureaucrat with CokeFan, seeing my kids thriving like this brings me joy! SaganStudios (talk) 13:09, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
