Background

Universal Music Hong Kong (香港環球唱片) is the Hong Kong branch of Universal Music Group. Alongside Warner Music Hong Kong and Sony Music Hong Kong, they are the three major record labels in Hong Kong. Originally founded in 1957 as Diamond Records, later known as Polydor Records (Hong Kong) in 1971 and PolyGram Records Ltd. (Hong Kong) in 1979. In 1999, when Universal Music Group acquired PolyGram Records, PolyGram Records Ltd. (Hong Kong) was renamed to Universal Music Limited and later Universal Music Hong Kong.
