Tianshan Film Studio

Background

Tianshan Film Studio was founded circa 1958 by three Chinese film producers and writers. This is one of the smallest film studios in mainland China behind Inner Mongolia Film Studio and Guangxi Film Studio. Originally called Xinjiang Film Studio circa 1958. It was changed to New Xinjiang Film Studio circa 1963, then changed to current name called Tianshan Film Studio circa 1968. It produced adult-oriented and Indian-Uyghur historical/bible films. Many works are The Turmoil Quelling In The Desert (1986), Black Fire (1993), Chasing the Devil (1992) and Red Grass Sands (1999). Some 1960s early Xinjiang Film Studio former films are short-lived works, but still no movies are produced until 1964 when it's closed early as a short-lived film studio in the Republic of China, because the name of the countries was a Uyghur short-lived film studio in the probably 1958. Many different ethnic film workers is working on the studio system factory includes Uyghur, Kazakh, Tajik, Uzbek, Tatar, Xibe, Hui, Manchu and Han. In probably 2014 Tianshan Film Studio was folded by Xinjiang Film Group, then folds into Tianshan Film Group (Note: Not to be confused with Ningxia Film Group, the smallest film company in China).

1st (known) Logo (1979)

Visuals: On a blue background, there is a some stars sparkling on the screen, and there is a view of mountain (representing Tianshan/Kunlun mountain). A Chinese characters are in a 3D font, with a English pronounciation (which are not in 3D) in the Uyghur meaning "TIANSHAN FILM STUDIO".

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A 13-note trumpet fanfare, which segues a oriented theme on the logo.

Availability: Seen only on The Wizard.

2nd Logo (1982)

Visuals: Superimposed over a footage of sunset or mountain view, there is a Chinese text and the Arabic alphabet, which in a Uyghur language, and is in a different font.

Variants: A deteriorated version is covered.

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: A custom theme.

Availability: Seen on 2 films like "热娜的婚事" and "姑娘坟".

3rd Logo (1983)

Visuals: On a mountain background with pond, a Chinese text that translates into "Tianshan Film Studio", zooms into the screen until it stops. Then the logo stays onscreen for 12 seconds.

Technique: Camera-controlled animation.

Audio: A patriotic fanfare.

Availability: Only appeared on Nostalgic Border.

4th Logo (1984-1985)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background, a sparkling is seens on the 1st ones, but different. There is a Chinese name on the top, and the under is Arabic, but in Uyghur. The star shines.

Technique: Shining effects.

Audio: A melody fanfare with piano.

Availability: Only appeared on 2 films: Foot in the Iceberg and Nuernisha.

5th Logo (1985)

Visuals: There is a yellow building of the Uyghur christian church on a blue background. The text in Uyghur are seen with Chinese name in under.

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: Unknown

Availability: Only seen on When Money was a Thing.

6th Logo (1985-Mid-2000's?)

Visuals: On a red background, there is a gold Uyghur and Chinese text that translates into "Tianshan Film Studio", but is in shadowed font. The text and the position of the logo may be vary.

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: The opening theme of the generic music of the film.

Availability: Seen on some movies by the company.

7th Logo (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a Islamic Uyghur ornament background is the text in Uyghur and the Chinese from before, but in golden shine. The logo is still.

Variant: On Disappearance of the Desert, the background is different, and the Uyghur text was removed from the top carving. There is the Chinese text "A Tianshan Film Studio & Taiwan Ark Pictures (Hong Kong) Company co-production" in a Chinese script font. The logo cuts to "China Film Co-production Corporation" with Chinese characters from the previous one, which both is in red, The begining has the text both in gold.

Audio: The opening theme of the film. The variant mentioned has a deep sound with the whispers sound were heard on the silence.

Availability: It's only found on The Orphan Girl and Disappearance of the Desert.

8th Logo (1987, 1994)

Visuals: On a dark blue (pattern?) background, there is a white Uyghur (above) and Chinese (below) text that translates into "Tianshan Film Studio".

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie or none.

Availability: Only appeared on two movies. One being Amani Sahan.

9th Logo (2017)

Visuals: On a black background, three blue triangular objects, with white film sprockets on one side and in the form of a mountain, flip in from various sides of the screen to be placed in the center. A diagonal white light path quickly enters from the bottom right to spark on top of the central shape's peak, shining and allowing six stars on each side to fade in and arc over the three triangles. What is also happening during the spark is the emergence of a light burst behind the three shapes and a light paths drawing the combined outline of said objects. After they shine, three blurred horizontal paths slide in from the left and right, stopping in the center to form "TIANSHAN FILM STUDIO", in its Uyghur, Chinese, and English translation.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Alongside twinkling at the start, there is a soothing guqin and choral track that plays throughout.

Availability: The logo is seen on Flower.

10th Logo (September 30, 2022)

Visuals: The screen pans around and zooms out of Tian Shan above the clouds during a sunny day. As the camera backs away, the sun sets, the foreground becomes darker, and the sky becomes enclosed in a vignette and transforms into a white burst. What remains on a black background consists of the Tian Shan mountain peaks, now represented in three stylized silver geometric shapes. After a shine on the center mountain's peak, the company name in its Uyghur, Chinese, and English translations, with the middle in a gold calligraphic texture, wipes in.

Audio: A dramatic and majestic orchestral horn fanfare with a lute backing track.

Availability: The logo is seen on Ordinary Hero.
