Background

The Slow Mo Guys is a science and technology web series started by Gavin David "Gav" Free and Daniel Charles "Dan" Gruchy, recognized as one of the biggest slow-motion channels on YouTube.

Before the channel was launched, Gavin and Dan knew each other due to the fact they go to the same school, although the two didn't become friends until the two of them worked at the same branch of Waitrose, Oxfordshire. Initially, the videos were filmed at Gavin's parents' house in hopes of seeking their assistance either from Gavin's brother George or the family cat Lloyd. When Gavin moved to Austin, Texas, the videos were now filmed in the back of Gavin's back garden in his house.

1st Logo (October 16, 2010-January 7, 2014)

Visuals: On a black background, the metallic word "THE" is seen briefly sliding in from the left to the right side of the screen. Another word "GUYS" is seen sliding from the right to the left side of the screen but on the lower portion of the screen at the same speed. Finally, there are two more sets of texts sliding in from both sides which are: a small stacked "THE" and "GUYS" diagonally proportional towards each other sliding in from the right side that appears to sit on top of and below "SLOW MO", which slides in from the left side of the screen. The intro ends with the two texts sliding to the opposite sides of the screen.

Variant: In earlier videos, the video's title fades in after the intro finishes playing.

Technique: Computer editing effects.

Audio: Three whoosh sound effects with a sudden faint explosion and bass drop stinger at the end.

Audio Variants: The channel's first video omitted the stinger.

Availability: Was seen in their videos since their first video, which stopped appearing after Super Hydrophobic Surface and Magnetic Liquid.

2nd Logo (January 22, 2014-March 26, 2015)

Visuals: The intro starts with a metal room and a closeup of a red surface containing sixteen bullet holes, which quickly and simultaneously fire sixteen bullets from their muzzles in slow motion (hence their channel name). The camera slowly zooms in toward the bullets as the intro transitions to another scene containing another metal room which comprises the Slow Mo Guys logo made out of ice placed on top of a table. The logo consists of a thick and italicized "SLOW MO GUYS" in a stacked fashion that has the first letter of every word bigger than the rest of the letters, and on the left side of the "S", a small "THE" is seen slightly obscuring part of the "S." While the camera slowly zooms in towards the logo, the same circular bullets suddenly shatter the logo into pieces in slow motion. The intro ends with the speed returning to normal while the pieces fly around in all directions, culminating in a flash of light.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The soundtrack starts with the sounds of the bullets firing accompanied by a gentle breeze. In the second segment, there is a bass drop sound effect right after the bullets are heard coming close to the logo at a rapid pace. During this, the glass shattering can also be heard in slow motion, ending with it returning to its normal pace.

Availability: Made its first appearance in Melon Fragmentation at 2500fps and abruptly stopped appearing after CD Shattering at 170,000FPS.
