Background

TV Noord Zee was a pirate television broadcast off the coast of The Netherlands on a man made island called REM island from 1963 until 1964. On the 17th of December of 1964, the Dutch armed forces raided REM island and arrested the station operators and seized the equipment. The signal could only be received in the northern provinces of the Netherlands. The people involved later became TROS (Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting).
