Background

TV Noord Zee was a pirate television broadcast off the coast of The Netherlands on a man made island called REM island from 1963 until 1964. On the 17th of December of 1964, the Dutch armed forces raided REM island and arrested the station operators and seized the equipment. The signal could only be received in the northern provinces of the Netherlands. The people involved later became TROS (Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting).

1st Logo (September 1, 1964)

Logo: The REM island can be seen with the letters "tv" in black next to it, and "NOORD ZEE" below the surface of the sea in white.

Variants: A variant exists that is cropped in the shape of a CRT.

Technique: Unknown

Music/Sounds: Seven notes that usually play when the logo appears.

Music/Sounds Variants: Sometimes, the logo was silent.

Availability: Extremely rare. Can be seen partially in archived broadcasts and news reports of the seizure.
