Background

TGFbro is a dormant British YouTube channel created in 2012 by Jay Swingler and Romell Henry. As of 2022, the channel has over 6 million subscribers. It is mainly known for its videos that contain surreal humor as well as stunts. Due to the extreme nature of their videos at times, they have been the subject of various controversies; two notable examples are "I Cemented My Head In A Microwave" and "Extreme Driving Test", the latter of which ultimately led to TGFbro's dormancy. Today, Jay and Romell continue to make videos, albeit on their own channels.

Note: The intros can be seen here.

1st Logo (May 29, 2012-August 30, 2012)

Visuals: On a white gradient background, a circle abruptly settles into position. Inside said circle are the words "TGF" and "BRO", both of which are in a tall, bold font. The former is black, while the latter only has its outline shown. Additionally, the "G" in "TGF" is flipped. In between both of them is a black line. A simplistic drawing of a crowd of children, all of whom have their arms outstretched, appears on the bottom of the screen before the screen fades out.

Variant: A prototype version exists, where the crowd of children is omitted.

Technique: Simplistic animation.

Audio: A loud crash when the logo appears, followed by children shouting "YAY!" (both are stock sound effects).

Availability: It first appeared on "The Chili Challenge (Scotch Bonnet)" and last appeared on "Slender Game Reaction Video".

2nd Logo (September 11, 2012-November 12, 2012)

Visuals: On a street (some notable things in it are people walking, a multitude of trees, and a cinder block wall), a skateboard slides in from the left of the screen; on the skateboard sits a figure made of wood. The figure's arms and head are slightly rounded in shape, though its legs are blockier. Additionally, its torso has vertexes on the top. The figure's face consists of two gold beads, dark red lines on the top, and a narrow smile (also dark red). It also sports a top hat. The bold words "TGF" and "BRO" (in white and black respectively) appear one-by-one. The screen fades to black afterwards.

Technique: Most of it is live-action, sans the text.

Audio: The sounds of the skateboard, followed by a very whimsical tune.

Availability: It has only appeared on "Interviewing The Public #2" and "A Day Out at The Hospital".

  • From this point forward, TGFbro did not use an intro for their videos until 2014.

3rd Logo (May 8, 2014-December 10, 2014)

Visuals: On a white background, an outline of a toaster appears via a swipe-in effect. Three Wingdings symbols (a lozenge, the Capricorn sign, and the Sagittarius sign) appear one-by-one. Then, the URL for TGFbro appears via the same effect mentioned before. The screen cuts to black after approximately one second.

Technique: Same as the 1st logo.

Audio: An upbeat song, which consists of a basic 6-note tune and a different note that is repeated throughout.

Audio Variant: On "Worlds Hottest Chilli Challenge (Moruga Scorpion Chilli)", a different song is used. It consists of someone whistling and a very strange sound which plays in the background.

Availability: Its first appearance was in "TRAVELLING 180 MILES FOR A BURGER", and it appeared on every video uploaded by TGFbro in 2014 from then.

4th Logo (February 4, 2015-March 25, 2015)

Visuals: On a white background, the same symbols from before (as well as the toaster outline) appear one-by-one. If you look closely, they appear to be gray instead of black. The TGFbro logo during then swipes in, this time smaller. The toaster outline is also thinner.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: The same song that was used in "Worlds Hottest Chilli Challenge (Moruga Scorpion Chilli)" is used here, though the weird sound is replaced with subtle beats.

Availability: Can be found on videos uploaded on TGFbro in the early months of 2015. It debuted on "WE GOT OUR CHANNEL BACK!! #TGFBROISBACK" and last appeared on "SCREAMING AT STRANGERS".

5th Logo (April 8, 2015-August 17, 2015)

Visuals: On a black background, faulty TV static appears on the screen. As it glitches, the following text is revealed:

YOUTUBE.COM/TGFBRO

ENJOY

Said text is white and set in the Ice Age D font. The toaster outline, which is also white, appears as well. Both the text and the outline appear in different places before they disappear entirely. The SMPTE color bars are seen briefly at the end.

Technique: Appears to be green screen effects.

Audio: A rather basic song plays throughout. There are also quiet buzzing sounds, which correspond to the glitching, and Jay saying "We're blending up children. Swag!". The buzzing gets slightly louder at the end.

Availability: Appeared on all videos during this time period.

6th Logo (November 27, 2015-April 29, 2016)

Visuals: On a white background, a silhouette of an elephant appears via a stiff wipe-in effect. The screen then cuts to black immediately afterwards as glitchy static (much like from before) appears on the screen.

Technique: Simplistic animation for the elephant silhouette. The static is likely green screened.

Audio: Quiet static sounds.

Availability: Same as before, though it did not appear on every video during this period.

7th Logo (March 14, 2017-June 18, 2017)

Visuals: On a black background, three things are shown. They are:

  • The elephant silhouette from before (this time white; it is shown very briefly)
  • A container of butter with pegasus wings (which moves slightly via a warp effect)
  • A simplified version of TGFbro's profile picture (both parts of the head move downwards and upwards respectively)

The head comes apart, revealing the text "ENJOY". Either the SMPTE color bars or static will appear before the video starts.

Technique: Simplistic animation.

Audio: A brief whoosh, followed by three clicks and then one final whoosh followed by a short beep or a buzzing sound.

Availability: Appears on all videos uploaded during then.

Final Note

After June 2017, videos began without an intro.
