Background

South Pacific Television was a brief rename of TV 2 in 1976. On February 15, 1980, South Pacific Television was renamed TV 2 again when it merged with TV One under Television New Zealand.

1st (and possibly only) Logo (1976-February 15, 1980)


Nickname: "I’m Not CBS!"

Logo: On a black background, we see a giant red dot in the center, with a limegreen dot on its left side and a deepskyblue dot on its right side, and the words "SOUTH PACIFIC TELEVISION" in italics below. The two small dots begin drawing what looks like an eye around the red dot, with the limegreen line being the inner line and the deepskyblue line being the outer one.

FX/SFX: The lines drawing.

Music/Sounds: An upbeat horn, drum & violin tune.

Availability: Extinct.
