Background: Sofdec is a streaming video format created byCRI Middlewaresupporting up to 24bit and seamless playback with frames up to 60 frames per second. Sofdec is commonly used with games for Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, and Xbox.

Variants:
- In earlier games supporting the engine, The text reads "MPEG SoFdec". and a copyright notice can be shown.
