Background

Smokehouse Pictures is a production company founded by George Clooney and Grant Heslov in 2006. The company derives its name from the Smoke House restaurant, located across the street from Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California.

1st Logo (March 24, 2008-May 12, 2016)

Logo: Just the name "SMOKEHOUSE" in a grungy font on a black background, but applied differently depending on the movie.

Variants:

  • On Argo, the logo is on a white background.
  • On The Ides of March, the logo scrolls up with the credits side-by-side with the Appian Way logo.
  • On Our Brand Is Crisis, the logo is tinted in beige and has a slight texture. This was done by Prologue.
  • On Money Monster, the logo appears via a static effect.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening/closing theme of the film.

Availability: Common. It appeared on Leatherheads, The Ides of March, Argo, The Monuments Men, Our Brand Is Crisis, and Money Monster.

2nd Logo (September 2, 2017-)


Logo: On a black background, a puff of smoke forms "SMOKEHOUSE" in the same font as before with "SMOKE" in white and "HOUSE" in red.

Variants: On TV shows, the logo is shortened.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A held-out string note accompanied by various hissing noises. Composed by Alexandre Desplat.

Availability: Current. First appeared at the end of Suburbicon and was later seen on The Midnight Sky and The Tender Bar. It also appeared on the series Catch-22, On Becoming a God in Central Florida, and Trial by Media.
