Background

STS (СТС, stands for Russian: Сеть Телевизионных Станций/Set' Televizionnykh Stantsiy; literally: Network of Television Stations) is a Russian federal TV channel launched on December 1, 1996 by the merger of several regional stations. It's owned by STS Media (the group formed in 1989 and known as StoryFirst until 2004) and it's the fourth most watched nation-wide broadcaster.



1st Logo (2005-2007)


Visuals: On a black background, the bronze letters "СТС" (with the letter "T" lying between the first and third letters and was slightly raised) in the blocky font are flipping, making a logo of the time. The word "представляет" ("presents") in white DaxlinePro font fades below.

Variant: Sometimes, the logo is a bit larger, and the word below is absent.

Technique: CGI by 1+1 Video Design.

Audio: A two-note crystal jingle with an echo effect following.

Audio Variant: On a variant, the multiple whooshes are heard, followed by a male announcer (Sergey Chonishvili) saying "СТС представляет" ("STS presents").

Availability: Seen on channel's programs from that era, that's very hard to find.

2nd Logo (2007-2010)


Visuals: On a black background, a lighter version of the previous logo appears with a mix of flipping and zooming in. The word "представляет" (in the same font as before, but bolder) fades below.

Later Variant: In 2009, the word below was capitalized.

Variant: A variant without words below the logo exists.

Technique: CGI by Shandesign.

Audio: Just a whoosh.

Audio Variant: A rare crystal version exists.

Availability: Seen on the comedy and sitcom shows episodes of that era.

3rd Logo (2014-2015)


Visuals: Over a golden yellow radial gradient background are the letters "СТС" (in Frankfurter Medium Plain font), with their drop shadow moving. The word "ПРЕДСТАВЛЯЕТ", along with the Second Screen app notice, slides in from the bottom of the screen below.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Just a smooth synth-like tune.

Availability: Unknown.

4th Logo (2015-2017)

Visuals: In a white environment, there are couple of moving white semicircles with yellow and purple outlines on a white foreground. The camera then switches its position to another shot of moving semicircles two times and finally, it cuts to a white background with gray, white and yellow semicircles behind the white circle (with a yellow outline), inside which are the letters "СТС" from before. The word "ПРЕДСТАВЛЯЕТ" (along with the Second Screen app notice from before) slides in at the bottom of the screen.

Technique: CGI by Estudio Vascolo and 2veinte.

Audio: An orchestral tune with several whooshes accompanying actions.

Availability: It was seen on TV series from the era like Как я стал русским (How I Became Russian), 2015-2018 episodes of Cinema in details (Кино в деталях), The Kitchen (Кухня) episodes from that same era, Mega Galileo (canceled season of Galileo that have been aired on STS Love), Also seen on episodes of Voroniny from 2015 to 2018 (again). Also seen on Beglyie rodstvenniki (Беглые родственники) from season 2 episode until its closure; and on pre-2017 Kid-E-Cats episodes.

5th Logo (2017-2019)


Visuals: Over a black background are several multiple yellow and white dots that form lines. It then cuts to multiple lines that form a stylized "C" (already) with the letters "СТС" (in the Avant Garde Gothic font). The word "ПРЕДСТАВЛЯЕТ" appears letter-by-letter on the right side of the screen.

Variant: There's a variant with inverted colors.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A snippet of "Magic Man", a library music by Andrew Britton, Phillip Buckle, and Mikey Rowe, with a forming sound at the end.

Availability: Seen on newer programming.
