Background: RTP2 was a division of RTP1, a Portuguese television station.

1st Logo

(March 21-June 1983?)

Logo: We see a mass of orange lines rise up from the screen, that somewhat form a "2", with a yellow parallelogram on the side. The remainder of the 2 appears (due to it being "three-dimensional"). "RTP" in blue wipes in on the side.

FX/SFX: The formation of the 2 and text fade. Choppy cel animation.

Music/Sounds: An ascending sawtooth drone.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: The music is definitely enough to grate someone's ears, and the logo is very dark.

2nd Logo (1983-1988)

Logo: We see a light blue light fall onto a blue/black gradient background. This light is actually a tunnel, as the camera pans to the first-person view. It quickly zooms in as an abstract "2" forms. A blue "RTP" wipes in with a faint light passing by.

FX/SFX: Cel animation.

Music/Sounds: 100 percent synthesized. It begins with an atmospheric-type noise, which abruptly segues into a loud three-note synthesized "orchestra", for a lack of better term. Three dark synthesized piano notes follow, with the same noise from before as the RTP wipes in.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: The music and darkness will not be a favorite of many.
