Background

Nathaniel Bandy is an American YouTube channel founded by said name on August 23, 2007 with The Faceless Board Breaker. He is a Nintendo enthusiast and is known for his Triggered series and Top 10s (which eventually became Ranked Videos).



1st Logo (March 16-August 31, 2013)


Visuals: There is the text "Nathaniel Bandy" appear in the top left corner on a white background. Then the entire text (Except for the first letter of each) explodes in blue, black, and yellow. The "N" circles the "B" & gets next to the letter. Finally, the quote "Striving for Originality" appears.

Variants:

  • Some releases have them in different colors, like an inverted version appeared once, a sepia toned version appeared once, and a rainbow version.
  • Another variant has the rainbow version in 3D.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A series of distorted sounds.

Availability: Seen on his releases at the time, starting with Top 10 Mario Power-Ups (2013 Edition) and ending with Top 10 Hardest Super Mario Galaxy Stars.

2nd Logo (September 8, 2013-May 29, 2016)

Visuals: There is the text "Nathaniel Bandy" in white appear on a black background. Then, an explosion appears, making the text disappear and a big white "NB", a white bar, and the quote appear before all disappear.

Variants: Seen at least twice, it can have a projector effect.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: Nathaniel saying "Nathaniel Bandy", an explosion sound, and Nathaniel saying "Striving for Originality".

Audio Variants: On a few releases, it echoes.

Availability: Can be seen on his releases at the time, starting with Predicting Super Smash Bros 4ǃǃ Part 12: Adventure Mode and ending with SPLATOON: BEST NINTENDO BOSS EVER?ǃ-Nathaniel Bandy.

Legacy: This logo is now known as a funnier joke amongst Nathaniel's community.

3rd Logo (June 3, 2016-March 3, 2018)

Visuals: The black text "Nathaniel Bandy" appear at the center of the screen on a white background. Then, the text moves up and an "NB" that looks similar to the Nintendo 64 logo spins.

Variant: An early version exists where it has the quote appear at the bottom.

Technique: 2D/3D animation.

Audio: A pencil writing sound and a calm synth note.

Availability: The early version appears only on the early videos made by him. The later version can be seen on July 23, 2016 with Top 10 Easiest Super Mario Galaxy Stars and ending with How Super Smash Bros Melee is Mind Blowingǃ.

4th Logo (March 5, 2018-February 22, 2020)

Visuals: The sequence starts off as a cyan background. Then "Nathaniel Bandy" (with "Nathaniel" being white and having a pink gold crown on the "L", and "Bandy" being red, green, yellow, & blue) spin and zoom to the center of the screen. The background then turns 3D-like while the text gitters.

Trivia: The pink gold crown is a reference to his notorious hatred of the Mario Kart 8 character Pink Gold Peach.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: The same sounds used for the 64DD startup.

Availability: Again, can be seen on releases at the time, starting with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Battle Mode is Mediocre and ending with Ranking Every Nintendo Launch Title.

Note

From February 22 to September 5, there were no intros seen and the video instead starts immediately, likely beacuse of people wanting to speed up the beginning of the video.

5th Logo (September 12, 2020-)

Visuals: Over a cyan-clear background is the text from last time (excluding the crown) pop up out of the background, Once it's done, it floats & shines. While it's happening is the crown from last time get on the "L", leaving white to appear. After 2 seconds of floating, the screen zooms to the text.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Calm music is heard through the logo, as well as a record scratch and a choir. A remix of "Forgotten Isle 2" from Super Mario Odyssey.

Availability: Current, debuted with Is it Possible to Beat Sonic Mania Without Touching a Single Enemy?.
