Background

My Way Film Company (Chinese: 名威影業公司) was founded in 1986 by Jeremy Cheung initially operating as a film and TV distribution company before turning into a film studio in the 1990s.

1st Logo (1991?)

Logo: A blue planet flies in from the left on a space background, followed by more blue planets. A bunch of stars then zoom in, but when they merge and form an explosion, it cuts to a black screen with the red text "名威影業公司" and "MY WAY FILM CO., LTD." in white underneath. The Chinese text for "Presents" can be seen below.

FX/SFX: The CGI animation, which appears to be stolen from another logo or a graphics reel, then the cut-out.

Music/Sounds: A spacy synth atmosphere during the first half, followed by a bombastic synth brass fanfare.

Availability: Seen on the company's very first films.

2nd Logo (1990s)

Logo: We zoom in through stars in space, then we see a star shining and multicolored rays start appearing around it. The, we see red, blue and green ribbons join on another space background, forming a burst around them. Briefly, we see more multicolored rays, as we cut to another sequence; three silver rings spin like a gyroscope along with the text "名威影業公司" and the English words "My Way Film Company Limited" on a blue cloth background, then the two texts position itself on the top and bottom of the gyroscope, where the outer ring positions itself sideways, whereas the inner ring is diagonally positioned.

FX/SFX: The animation of the stars and comets, the ribbons connecting, and the elements of the logo spinning. The third part of the logo looks clearly made from a MotionStudio 3D preset.

Music/Sounds: "Music - Billboard #2" from the Sound Ideas Series 1000 sound library; a metallic hitting sound once the logo places itself.

Availability: Rare.

3rd Logo (Early 2000s?)

Logo: Two sets of golden rings spin on a black background, as the golden text "MY WAY FILM CO. LTD." and "名威影業公司" spin around the rings and position themselves in front of the rings. We then see various silver lines on a black background, and the English and Chinese words for "presents" then fly to the center of the screen, and shines.

Variant: Sometimes, the second sequence is cut.

FX/SFX: Very cheap-looking 3D animation.

Music/Sounds: A loud metallic hitting sound.

Availability: Very rare.

4th Logo (Mid-Late 2000s?)

Note: The logo starts at 1:05 at the second video above.

Logo: On a black background, we see various shards of glass fall, as they form the words "MY WAY" and "MY WAY FILM CO., LTD" and "名威影業公司" below it. Two silver lines then surround the upper text.

FX/SFX: More professional 3D animation.

Music/Sounds: A deep synth note, and whooshes.

Availability: Again, very rare.

5th Logo (Late 2000s-2010s?)

Note: The logo starts at 1:13 at the second video above.

Logo: On a blueprint background, chalk lines draw the words "MY WAY FILM COMPANY LIMITED" with "名威影業公司" below it. As we zoom out, the background then becomes black as a blue light shines through the text, and forms a line, as the light stops on the "D".

FX/SFX: More professional 3D animation than the above.

Music/Sounds: A whooshing sound, then some clanging sounds.

Availability: Rare.

6th Logo (2010s- )

Note: The logo starts at 1:23 at the second video above.

Logo: On a black-brown background, a brown light reveals the 5th logo, now redone in gold. It then shines.

FX/SFX: Nice CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: Traditional drum beats, then a one-note rising brass tune.

Availability: Current, and common. Seen on current releases from the company.
