Background

Ka 2 started out in 1995 as a TV channel from Belgium. It has later gone in various name changes, those being Kanaal 2 in 1996, KANAALTWEE in 2003, 2BE in 2008, Q2 in 2016, and VTM 2 in 2020, which is currently being used.

Visuals: On a black background, an explosion occurs from one of two squares, bringing up fire, which then starts to engulf the screen. The screen then turns yellow, and the words "Dit is" appear in white, as we cut to the Kanaal 2 logo from the time, which is two squares (one purple and one yellow), with a yellow "Ka" on the purple square and a purple "2" on the yellow square.

Variants:

• An even more different version of the logo was used when the channel starts up. In order, the screen fades from the countdown screen and a yellow box with the orange letters "Ka" fade in from bottom right to top left, zooming in a bit We then see a closeup of an orange shape flashing, with the cut-out part looking like the silhouette of the 2. Then, fire lights up from the right side of the screen, and we cut to an orange background submerged in water, with water bubbles floating from left to right. Then is some gold film, a bit of it tearing up to see a gold box with a small purple 2 in it. We then cut to light appearing on the 2 in 2 different shots, getting brighter, the first shot showing the bottom of the 2, blue and the second shot being the full view, orange. Fire on the left side them dies out and we see some gold film flying from right to left, shining a bit. A reverse effect of red paint splashing on a blue backdrop is seen at a close-up shot, then purple silk flies up from the screen as we see 2 boxes, the same "Ka" box as before, being small, now purple with golden letters and the large one being covered in gold film. Another close-up shot of reverse-splashing paint, this time yellow is seen on the same backdrop as the one for the red paint, and the screen then cuts to a yellow background submerged underwater, with water bubbles descending., with more close-up shots of reverse paint splashes (now with pink paint on top of some red paint). The screen cuts back to the water bubbles shrinking on a blue background, then zoom out from a blue box with the yellow "Ka", covered in water droplets. An explosion occurs on a box, then we see the same flashing 2 box as before, dimming down, with the 2 flashing blue and vice versa (the flashing background being blue), and we see a reversed clip of green paint splashing on the top half of the3D 2. An orange rectangular box lights up, and the same purple "Ka" box is seen with gold film flying past. The fire on the left side lights up again, then the rest of the gold film flies off the large box as explained earlier, revealing a golden, metallic box with a small purple 2. We then see a shot of paint hitting the same 3D 2 (now mot in reverse). After that is the Ka2 logo (in print) at the top right corner with a light scribbling all over the screen, leaving a trail as some of that trail fades away. After all of that, the sequence ends with a shot of an explosion appearing in a box, then another shot of an explosion approaching the camera. Then, a red square with a yellow "2" zooms out, and we see a yellow square with a red "Ka" while the red square places. Fire is seen behind the red square once it finishes placing.
• In between commercial breaks a variant was used with only the color-changing from the startup variant.
• Before announcing the ''kultuuragenda'' the scene with the flying ribbons from the start-up variant would play.
• The closedown variant shows the splashing of paint in a reverse order. After which the lights get turned off to see the logo in the dark.
• There were also variants used on their sister channel VTM that indicated what programming there was on their channel and which is very likely dependent on the season of the broadcast. The spring introductory variant introduces and ends the program schedule with electric flashes, the summer variant introduces it with a projected film of people on the beach trying to beat up and ends with a zoomed-in version of the projection, with at the end the logo against a black background.

Technique: Depending on the variant. These idents were made by Lambie-Nairn.

Audio: A creepy choral theme which sounds jumbled and keeps coming to a halt, and two beatbox bass drum sounds at the end. For the startup variant, a lot of confusing sounds like a female choir, laser sounds, slamming, and a deeper male choir are incorporated. In the middle you might hear the same female choir and a sample from another part of the music being reversed, and more confusing sounds everywhere. The choral theme and the two bangs are also used. After the grueling startup, there is an announcer speaking in Dutch. He says, "This is Kanaal 2. Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, and welcome. What does our opening evening look like?". This is followed by the nighttime programming announcements or news broadcasts. The VTM spring programming scheme variant however only has the sound of the sizzling of electricity and the VTM summer programming scheme variant only the sound of the playing of a projector.
