Jared Owen Animations

Background

Jared Owen is a Blender animator, whose YouTube channel focuses on animated educational videos teaching how various items work, or what's inside famous landmarks. His channel has amassed over 3 million subscribers as of December 2023.

1st Logo (July 25, 2015-July 12, 2016)

Prototype version only used on two videos
Version used starting September 22, 2015

Visuals: The camera zooms out from a close-up view of a bolt, which unscrews itself from a rusty steel plate. Three other bolts are visible, also unscrewing itself. As the camera zooms completely out, the plate lifts itself up to reveal a large rectangular hole finished with wood, with brown gears spinning inside. Also inside the hole is the serif text "Jared Owen". The text then moves up and out of the hole and settles towards the upper half of the screen, and its color changes to metallic blue. As the screen gets slightly darker, the text then shines.

Variant: The prototype used in the first two videos with this logo had the following changes:

The gears are in the same texture as the hole. (the second, and final video to use this prototype has the gears in its final coloring) They also stop spinning when the text shines.
The hole's lining is thicker and now has holes where the bolts used to be placed.
The text does not turn blue.
The positioning is slightly different.
The scene's lighting stays the same throughout the logo.

Technique: CGI, presumably animated in Blender.

Audio: First, the sound of a motor starting up, followed by a mysterious violin build-up leading into an impactful orchestral crescendo. Sparkling is heard towards the end.

Availability: The prototype was seen on "What's Inside the Corn Popper Toy?" and "What's a Second Cousin Once Removed?". Seen on all videos by Jared Owen between "How Big is the Atmosphere?" and "How the Apollo Spacecraft works: Part 3".

2nd Logo (October 9, 2016-)

Visuals: The scene starts over a metallic circuit board with transistors and capacitors. There are blue wires on the ground, which are split into three sections. Two of the line sections go directly into a series of transistors, while the center one travels beneath a large gear. These lines all have a flash to signify its path, with light blue streaks behind it. The camera then pans through a hole in the wall to reveal another area, with "JaredOwen" and a smaller, spaced-out "Animations" on the ground. The text has more wires coming out of it, with streaks coming in from the outer part of the screen. As the streaks hit the text, the screen flashes, turning the text light blue. The wires are no longer visible on-screen, and the camera settles to face the text.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Electricity sparkling, followed by a loud, explosive boom when the screen flashes.
