Background

Jackhole Industries is a production company started by Jimmy Kimmel, Daniel Kellison and Adam Carolla. The name came from a swear word Carolla made up to say on the radio without the FCC objecting to it. It is also an amalgam of Carolla and Kellison's previous company Jackhouse, and Kimmel's previous company Cashhole.

In early 2020, Kimmel's new production company, Kimmelot, assumed production responsibilities for Jimmy Kimmel Live; it is not known if this is due to a merger between Jackhole and Kimmelot.

1st Logo (June 15, 1999-August 4, 2002)

Visuals: On a purple background, we see a donkey wearing a sombrero inside an "O". The donkey brays and the logo zooms out to reveal the company name in black with dark green lines inside.

Variant: On Crank Yankers, the logo is superimposed on a billboard (current prints of the aforementioned Crank Yankers would do the same thing but the 3rd logo is used instead).

Technique: Hand-drawn animation.

Audio: The sound of a donkey braying.

Audio Variant: On early episodes of The Man Show, an announcer says "...in association with Jackhole Industries" with the end theme playing underneath the donkey braying.

Availability: Seen on the first two seasons of The Man Show. The variant was seen on the first season of Crank Yankers.

2nd Logo (July 1, 2001-April 13, 2004)

Visuals: On a desert background with hills far behind, a sun in the top left of the screen, and two cactuses on the bottom left and right side respectively, we see the donkey and the company name from the previous logo. The donkey jumps on the letters and lands on the "O" in "JACKHOLE", causing it to fly and land on his neck. He then says "Yokozuna!".

Technique: Choppy hand-drawn animation.

Audio: A part of the Mexican Hat Dance plays, and then the donkey saying his dialogue.

Availability: It was seen on seasons 3-4 of The Man Show, the second season of Crank Yankers, and Gerhard Reinke's Wanderlust.

3rd Logo (January 26, 2003-2020)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background, we see the company name in full black in the upper center, along with the donkey from the previous logo standing below it. The donkey is burnt in the rear with a branding iron, causing him to jump onto the "O" and bringing down the words altogether. When he lands, the letters bounce and the "O" flies up, landing and spinning on his neck as he gets dizzier. He then loudly brays.

Variants:

  • On The Andy Milonakis Show, the animation is noticeably slower.
  • Starting in 2009, the logo is presented in widescreen.

Technique: Hand-drawn animation with smooth 2D effects.

Audio: A sound of the branding iron when the donkey is burnt, followed by a short horn tune, then the donkey's bray. Later ABC airings of Jimmy Kimmel Live use a generic theme and an announcer over the logo.

Audio Variant: On The Andy Milonakis Show and early season 1 episodes of the aforementioned Jimmy Kimmel Live, only the sound effects are heard.

Availability: Seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC until 2020. Also seen Crank Yankers and The Andy Milonakis Show on MTV2 and on Windy City Heat.
