Background

Great Wall Movie Enterprises is one of the predecessors to the current Sil-Metropole Organization.

1st logo (1960s-1970s)

Nickname: "20th Century Studios of China"

Logo: We see a model of the Great Wall of China standing over a dark cumulonimbus clouds background with fog, similar to the Warner Bros. Pictures 1934-1937 logo, which has "長城" in a blocky Chinese font, written backwards, which is made of bronze. On the bottom row is the words "電影製片有限公司" written backwards in a 50s Chinese font. In the cloud with fog, there are searchlights moving, similar to the 20th Century Studios logo, as well for the center of moving searchlights, which is removed.

FX/SFX: The searchlights.

Music/Sounds: A bombastic fanfare.

Availability: Rare. Some films produced by Great Wall in the 50s-60s was lost according to HKFA archives. It can be notably seen on The Golden Beauty (1959).

Editor's Note: The logo's resemblance to that of 20th Century Studios' has often been noted.

2nd logo (1970s)

Nickname: "20th Century Studios of China II"

Logo: Same as the 1st logo, but this time, there are no searchlights, and the logo is in color, with 2 Chinese text in gold, and "電影製片有限公司" in orange. This logo is set on a stormy sky background.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Availability: Rare.

3rd logo (1970s-1980s)

Nickname: "20th Century Studios of China III"

Logo: We see the Great Wall of China standing on an evening sky background, with fireworks, resembling to the 1st and 2nd logos element. On the top, "長城" appears in gold-yellow, and the "電影製片有限公司" in white, appears below on the bottom. The logo stands until fades to black at the end.

FX/SFX: The fireworks.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Availability: Rare.
