1st Bumper (1994-1997)

Bumper: On a blue/black gradient background, we see the words "The Following Program Has Been Closed Captioned For The Hearing Impaired." typing in letter-by-letter in a yellow Impress font. A small Family Channel logo is seen on the corner in the bottom left, while the Closed Captioned logo in purple, but in a "childish" fashion, slides in on the bottom right.

FX/SFX: The words typing in, and the logo sliding.

Music/Sounds/Voice-over: An announcer saying "The following program has been Closed Captioned for the hearing impaired".

Availability: Seen on Family Channel airings from 1994 to 1997.

Bumper: On a white background, consisting of the sun (as seen in the original 1988 Family Channel logo) blurred on the bottom-right side, the Closed Captioning logo (intended to be the "TV speech bubble" symbol), in a chromed, brassy and metallic fashion, appears on the corner in the bottom left via a "water rippling" effect (a la the 1996 Imagine Entertainment logo). The dark blue words:

The Following Program

Has Been

Closed Captioned

For The

Hearing Impaired

type in above them letter-by-letter in the same style as the 1994 bumper.

Trivia: The font for this bumper was used, similar to the words "PICTURES INC.", made in the usage for the 1994 United Artists logo.

Variant: In 2020, the bumper was redone in high definition and in 16:9, presented on the following shows:

  • Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: The sequence plays, and the Miraculous logo rotates in below with the "family.ca" logo, containing "family" in its font with a small "Circle F" logo in its 2017 design dotting the I, fading in while "Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir" (in a Lobster font) appears in black under the Miraculous logo. Meanwhile, an image of Ladybug and Cat Noir wipes in on front of the sun. His cat-like ears (intended to be his costume) overlap both rays of the sun.
  • LoliRock: Same as the Miraculous variant, but the LoliRock logo rotates in below with an image of Iris, Talia and Auriana wiping in right in front of the sun. Talia's hair overlaps the bottom-left ray of the sun, while Auriana's ponytail overlaps the right ray of it.

FX/SFX: The logo rippling in, and the words typing in just like before.

Music/Sounds/Voice-over: Same as above, but with the sound of a rippling as the logo appears below for its beautiful effect.

Music/Sounds Variant: On the remastered version, the audio for the "ripple" effect is different, and the voiceover was also remixed for 5.1 surround sound.

Availability: Extremely rare. It was found on Family Channel airings from 1997 to 1999. It was also surprisingly revived on Family Channel's airings of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, in the form of its remastered version, shown before the start, as well as its Canadian reruns of LoliRock.

Editor's Note: This is a cute bumper, but the "rippling" effect never scares people away. The bumper itself is well-remembered by those who grew up in the years watching one of Family Channel's recent programming before WildBrain (formerly DHX Media) made an acquisition of the Canadian network itself.

3rd Bumper (1999-2001)

4th Bumper (2001-2002)

Bumper: We zoom back from the blue gyroscope with a Closed Captioned logo (aka the "TV Chat Balloon") outlined in it as it spins, while being shown on the right on a cloudy sky background with transmitters spreading. A small 1999 Family logo is displayed on the bottom left corner and the words "Closed Captioning is brought to you by", in the same font as the "family" text, blurs in on the left side as the camera stops.

Variant: There is an extremely rare variant of Family's webpage ident. The sequence is played and the Family logo is omitted. An address bar that says "CLOSED captioning" drops it down that says "is brought to you by" inscribed on it. Also, a blue circle with a right arrow brings forth the blue vertical lines, making the letters rotate, revealing "family.ca".

FX/SFX: The gyroscope with the logo spinning, and the words blurring in.

Music/Sounds/Voice-over: A guitar tune played with a xylophone, and a "whoosh" at the end as the words appear, and a male voiceover says "Closed Captioning of the following program is brought to you by Family."

Music/Sounds/Voice-over Variants:

  • Sometimes, a female VO reads the text in a rare version of the bumper.
  • On Family's webpage variant, a male VO says "Closed Captioning of the following program is brought to you by family.ca. Log on to join Click Club!". He also says "Click on games, votes and chats!" at the end.

Availability: Extinct.
