Background

Element Animation is an English animation team which was founded in 2010 by Dan Lloyd, a student who graduated from college having studied animation there. Along with Jason Sargeant and Christine Adkin, they created the short film Yolk, which (because of their lack of enthusiasm with the title) renamed it to The Crack!. As they produced animated products for YouTube and Amazon Prime, they later began expressing interest in Minecraft, which lead to them producing Villager Shorts with Microsoft and Mojang Studios.



1st Logo (2010-2015)


Visuals: On a light blue background with a white light in the center, letters come flying in from the right, forming the words "ELEMENT ANIMATION" in the center. The logo soon fades to black afterwards.

Variant: On some episodes of The Crack!, Jason, one of the eggs, gets onto the right edge of the words "Element Animation" as the "T" is about to collapse on its side. He smiles awkwardly as he keeps that letter up.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A five-note jingle played on a guitar (for the first four notes) with the final note being played with a different instrument.

Availability:

  • Appeared on earlier episodes of The Crack! on YouTube and Amazon Prime as well as earlier Minecraft videos, including the first five Villager News shorts.
  • However, it didn't appear on some productions from the company at the time, including the Terraria series of shorts based on the game of the same name.

2nd Logo (May 20, 2015-)


Visuals: On a white screen, a light blue rectangle with smooth corners suddenly appears. Then the words "Element Animation" in white appearing in the center. The logo then zooms out into the background and disappears.

Variants:

  • On 2020, to celebrate 10th anniversary of the company, the logo have the "CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF" below the logo. Also behind this, are the yellow sunlight.
  • On some shorts, when it gets done, the SUBSCRIBE text, what is the same color as the rectangle appears on a nanosecond.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A three-note jingle with the final note being a bell ringing. On a 10th anniversary variant, the fanfare is more dramattic.

Availability:

  • Appears on certain Element Animation videos of the time, including some of the Minecraft: Villager Shorts.
  • The 10th years variant only appears on Zombie Rap.
  • It's currently used with tandem along with the next logo.
