Background

Drugiye Novosti (English: Other News) was the first news broadcast without politics of Channel One in Russia, which first aired on July 31st, 2006. The program was usually an overview of the most important, useful and interesting things in a world without politics.

In the spring of 2014, the program deviated from the original concept (according to some viewers - at the insistence of the Kremlin) and began to include stories about the situation in Ukraine of the time. It has already become little different from regular news releases, and apparently for this reason it was decided to remove it from the air. The program was last broadcast on May 30th, 2014.

1st Intro (July 31, 2006-March 2, 2008)

Visuals: The sequence starts with two shots of a globe (the first one being a close-up of the globe, and the second one being a spinning globe with multiple lines and curves rotating around it) from the regular news intro of the time, but the difference is that their colors are more saturated. The second shot transitions to the shot of a globe with map details from the aforementioned news intro. As soon as the four segments of a globe turn into their usual colors, they change to their different colors (except for the upper-right segment); the upper-left turns hot pink, the bottom-left turns yellow-ish, and the bottom-right turns light blue/teal. When the white border grows at the center of the screen, a transparent crimson bar, containing the white text "ДРУГИЕ", slides in above a border at the middle-left of the screen. When the text "НОВОСТИ" slides in, a light pink bar with a white bold outline slides in from the left behind a crimson bar. A pink bar also fades in at the upper-left corner, superimposing over a light blue-colored part of a wider one at the top.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: A shortened, rearranged version of the current regular news theme, which remains its first and last six notes. It's all accompanied by synth warbling sounds until the last three notes.

2nd Intro (2008)

Visuals: Same as the regular news intro of the time, but when the text "НОВОСТИ" slides in, a crimson bold line, containing the white text "ДРУГИЕ", slides in from the bottom above a white border at the middle-right of the screen.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: Same as the previous intro.

3rd Intro (2008-May 30, 2014)

Visuals: The intro is basically a recreation of the 2004 regular news intro in the style of the 2008 one. The background is in brown/crimson/orange/blue gradient with dark silk-like overlays. Aside from multiple lines and curves (which are crimson, orange, blue and pink), there are also stripes moving around a globe (which is a lightened Earth one in orange). Everyting moves at a slightly slower pace. In the final shot, a globe with the map details appears to be made of white beams and it's over a yellow/magenta gradient background. When the globe turns into four different styles and colors, the screen zooms out to reveal the mirrored sides of the globe animation. When a white border grows in the center of the screen, a transparent magenta bold line grows above a border at the upper-right segment of a globe. When the text "НОВОСТИ" slides in, the white text "ДРУГИЕ" slides in from the left inside a magenta bold line. The final shot also appears to have a slight light blue tint.

Early Variant: Up until June 1, 2011, when Channel One started broadcasting in widescreen, the intro was in 4:3 ratio; and because of this, the screen didn't zoom out during the formation of four different styles and colors of the globe to reveal the mirrored sides of the globe animation.

Variant: A short variant begins with a close-up shot of a globe.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: The 2001-2004 regular news theme.

Audio Variant: A short variant has the same theme from the previous intros.
